Dr. Heather Reid has 20 years experience as a wildlife vet. She has worked in Canada's busiest wildlife rehabilitation hospital and has seen the enormous help that volunteers can bring to organizations. She is excited to take the skills of enthusiastic volunteers to animal organizations around the world. Nora Livingstone has extensive travel and volunteer experience. She has volunteered with animals in such places as Nepal, Thailand and Costa Rica. She loves the idea of empowering people to live their dreams and travel while helping animals.

Movement is at the heart of travel. The ability to leave your home, cross a street, walk freely through the world — we treat that as a privilege when it should be a right.
Right now in Minneapolis, people are being detained for moving through their own lives. A five-year-old taken from his driveway after preschool. A two-year-old put on a plane to a detention center.
And countless others forcefully evicted from their life.
At AEI, we believe no one should be afraid to leave their house. No child should be punished for existing. And no system that relies on fear, confinement, or separation deserves our silence.
Travel teaches us that freedom of movement is precious — but it also reminds us that it’s deeply unequal. We stand against ICE and the harm being inflicted on families and communities right now.
Because ethical travel means standing up for dignity everywhere — not just abroad, but at home too.

Big news for ethical tourism! 🌿
Bali Zoo has officially ended elephant rides — a huge step forward for elephant welfare and responsible travel.
This change didn’t happen overnight. It came from years of advocacy and from travelers choosing compassion over entertainment. Wildlife experiences don’t have to mean sitting on top of animals. They can mean walking alongside elephants, observing them with respect, and letting them be elephants.
At AEI, this is exactly the kind of travel we believe in — experiences that put animal welfare first.
