One of the hardest things about glaucoma is that it doesn’t announce itself.

It often affects your side vision first, not the vision you rely on to read, drive, or work on screens. That’s why many people feel like their eyesight is “fine,” even as changes are happening quietly.

This is especially important to know if you’re over 40, or if it’s been a few years since your last eye exam.

If you’re over 40, or it’s been a while since your last exam, this is a good time to book an eye exam with our clinic.

Some eye conditions don’t come with early warning signs.

No pain.
No obvious changes.
No “something feels off” moments.

That’s why regular eye exams are about more than just seeing clearly. They help us notice what you can’t feel yet.

World Glaucoma Week is a good reminder that eye health goes beyond what you can see.

For people who spend most of their day on screens, eye fatigue tends to build up quietly.

If your eyes feel tired by mid-afternoon, this is a simple place to start.

Every 20 minutes:
Look 20 feet away
For 20 seconds

Simple. Easy. Surprisingly helpful. Especially during long Ontario winters, when we’re indoors and on screens more.

If an eye injury happens or if prescription safety glasses are needed, an optometrist should assess it as soon as possible. Early care protects long-term vision.
Most are preventable.

Flying debris, dust, and sparks can cause serious damage in seconds. Proper safety eyewear and early eye care make the difference.
