Madisyn's Movement

Madisyn's Movement Madisyn's Movement is a non profit registered Corporation that brings awareness and support for Men MOVEMENT: "BREAKING THE CYCLE". xxoo

On June 13th, 2017, I experienced an extremely deep and personal loss of my daughter, my friend, MADISYN SEARS. Sadly, Madisyn succumbed to her death mid evening that day, all alone. OUR STORY:

Madisyn's death became a tragic reality for me, my family and friends after Madisyn had a "mental breakdown" 5 days after giving birth. Madisyn relapsed and "accidentally" overdosed. What she thought to be using was in fact NOT. An 'acquaintance' had given Madisyn a lethal dose of Fentynal disguised as he**in: while keeping the 'clean' he**in for himself. Only hours prior to Madisyn's breakdown she shared with me, she had researched and found a private rehabilitation centre that she was wanting and willing to go to for 6 months to work through her mental health and trauma that ultimately led to her substance abuse disorder. Madisyn's passing came as a shock to all who knew her, as she had been in recovery on and off for a short while; yet now emotionally tormented with a broken heart: while still struggling and battling both the psychological issues and substance use disorder she held her head high. Madisyn would put on a smile before walking into a room for fear of judgment. Madisyn's love for her 3 year old and new born son was unquestionable: even amongst all her turmoil. All the while Madisyn would continue to journal her dreams and aspirations for a beautiful life for her and her children. Sadly, the wait times for rehabilitation were extremely long and resources very limited. Factor in Madisyn was pregnant - compounded her chances of receiving any kind of help. Madisyn was turned away from both public and private centers due to pregnancy and space. A double edged sword: NO HELP!! Through this experience of our devastating loss: I Sherri, will be my daughter's voice: along with family, friends and community. As a result - MADISYN'S MOVEMENT WAS BORNE: to encourage others struggling with mental health, trauma and/or substance use disorder of all ages. Throughout the past few years while struggling with the grief of my daughter's passing, together with the children's grief in coping with their loss, my passion and focus has shifted to the children and to all families and caregivers struggling to cope and find balance in their lives. Know you are never alone: we are here to help "BREAK THE CYCLE". Let’s not let the loss of our loved ones be in vain. Rest my angel, we are fighting your fight, we love you.
