Barrie Community Health Centre An interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals providing an array of much needed services to Group education programs are also offered.

Primary Health Care

At the BCHC health issues are assessed, diagnosed and managed by a variety of health professionals. An interdisciplinary team of doctors, nurse practitioners, nurses, social workers, physiotherapists, dietitians, health promoters and community health workers provide health care services to registered clients of the BCHC. Working together, this team looks at the factors in our client's lives that impact their health and well-being; income, housing, social supports, employment and access to healthy, affordable food. Our staff have expertise in health promotion, wellness care, chronic disease, and mental health issues and apply that knowledge to help clients address their barriers to health. Community Health

The Community Health Promotion team works with clients individually to address barriers to access including income, housing, social supports, employment and access to healthy, affordable foods. The team provides a range of group programs promoting individual capacity building including the young families program, the volunteer program, and the mentor program. The team also works with community partners on initiatives that build community capacity and resilience. Diabetes Education

The Diabetes Management Centre provides individual assessment/teaching with a registered dietitian and registered nurse. It also offers a Pre-Diabetes Program geared towards the prevention of Diabetes. On-going individual management and follow-up is also provided by the registered dietitian and registered nurse working in conjunction with your physicians, nurse practitioners and care team.

Due to the inclement weather the is closed today and the Covid19 assessment center (490 Huronia rd.) is closing at 12:30pm, Monday the 17th of January 2022 for the remainder of the day.

ACCESS TO COVID-19 RAPID TESTING

RAPID testing is available at 490 Huronia to those who meet the criteria (as decided by the physician). The rapid testing we provide is gold-standard/more accurate than other types of rapid testing. Other testing is done for those who do not qualify for the rapid testing.
