Home Care Assistance Barrie and Simcoe County

Home Care Assistance Barrie and Simcoe County Home Care Assistance is North America's premier provider of in-home care for seniors

We got into the this business because Domenic experienced the challenges his father had when diagnosed with Cancer while being the Care Giver for Domenic’s mother who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Dementia. We understands the pressures and stress on the family during these difficult times. Deborah's has cared for her Grandmother, travelling 2 hours to attend to her needs. She was there for her parents during their last breath and provided love, comfort and support to the families. We want to help families elimate the stress and support them with the evoling needs of Older Adults

Companionship changes everything.

“This has been, and still is a phenomenal assistance for me. Just the companionship alone has been such a motivating factor for me feeling truly cared about and not a burden. My caregiver was motivating, helping me to want to get out of bed—even helping me to go outside on my porch and enjoy the simple things of life. That alone helped me with any depression issues that was trying to make its way in. I highly appreciate and recommend their services for you or a loved one. Thank you, Home Care Assistance!!!”

A cancer diagnosis can turn life upside down in an instant. Suddenly, days are filled with appointments, treatments, and waiting for results—but care doesn’t only happen in hospitals.

At Home Care Assistance, we often see how meaningful support unfolds right at home—around the kitchen table, in quiet conversations, and through steady, practical help that brings comfort and reassurance.

While medical treatment is essential, emotional steadiness and day-to-day support can make a profound difference for older adults and the family members who care for them.

A cancer diagnosis can feel like it instantly reorganizes life around appointments, treatments, and test results. For many older adults and their families, the quieter, ongoing forms of support shape well-being just as much as visits to the clinic.

🌿 March is Nutrition Month in Canada—a reminder that when we nourish, we flourish.

Good nutrition plays an essential role in lifelong health and independence. As needs change with age, preparing and enjoying balanced meals can become more challenging—that’s why nutrition is a core pillar of our Balanced Care Method®. Supporting older adults to nourish their bodies helps them truly flourish in strength, energy, and overall well-being.

Our caregivers support older adults by:
🥗 Preparing balanced, plant-forward meals
🍽️ Encouraging mindful eating
🛒 Involving clients in meal planning and grocery shopping
👩‍🍳 Making cooking a shared, meaningful activity

Because food is more than fuel—it’s connection, dignity, and a foundation for healthy aging.

Did you know that curiosity plays an important role in healthy aging?

Research from top Universities shows that staying curious supports cognitive engagement and emotional well-being as we age—and may even help protect against Alzheimer’s. The good news? Curiosity doesn’t require classes or long-term commitments. It often shows up in small, everyday moments:

• Wondering about a photo, memory, or piece of music
• Exploring a favourite topic through a short article or video
• Turning a walk, meal, or conversation into a moment of discovery

At Home Care Assistance, our caregivers support person-centred care that honours interests, pacing, and curiosity—helping your loved one age well by staying mentally active, feeling more connected, and maintaining a strong sense of purpose.

Big promises to “do better” can feel rigid, especially when health, energy, or daily rhythms are changing while aging. To honor International Day of Education (Jan 24), we invite individuals and families to consider a different approach: curiosity.

At Home Care Assistance, we are proud to recognize and celebrate Black History Month.

This month—and every month—we honour the history, achievements, resilience, and contributions of Black individuals who have shaped our communities, our industry, and our nation. We are especially grateful for the incredible Black caregivers on our team who bring compassion, strength, skill, and dedication to the families we serve every single day.

Home care is built on trust, heart, and service—and our diverse team is what makes our mission possible. We see you. We appreciate you. And we thank you for the care, dignity, and excellence you provide.

To our Black caregivers, team, clients, and community partners: we celebrate you, we value you, and we are honoured to work alongside you.

Our Story

It’s our desire to extend a gracious and all inclusive “Welcome” to anyone who has the responsibility of care for an aging parent, family member or friend. Welcome to Home Care Assistance – The 1st franchise to open in Barrie and Simcoe County. We are Domenic Maccarone and Deborah Vollett. Domenic’s past in Sales and Marketing and Deborah’s in Nursing and Pharmacy in Healthcare bring a wealth of knowledge and experience in “Changing the Way the World Ages”

Sharing the same disappointing challenges with other home care services for our parents as with the Founders of Home Care Assistance, James and Kathy Johnson, a pair of Psychologists from California, we realized there must be a better way to help the Elderly live happier, healthier lives in their own homes. We found this through Home Care Assistance.

Here, we believe in offering a concierge non-medical service embracing a positive and balanced approach to aging centered on the evolving needs of older adults. We provide a high caliber of Care Givers, employ empathetic and responsive staff while covering all the activities of daily living for your loved one.

Perhaps you or someone you know are having the same challenges and stressful times with a mother or father’s evolving needs. Taking the next step is an emotional and important one. We are here to help.
