Exercise is important, we know this. What is more important is purposeful exercise. Movement for the sake of movement can get us in trouble and often times injured.
This video we start our entries into the muscle activation series. Where we discuss the importance of not just executing a movement, but how the movement is executed.
Form is important but so is a proper motor pattern to get your through your workouts injury free!
** For the banded lunge in the video, because of the angle of the camera we filmed at, it looks as though the band is at an angle when in fact it is directly linear with the femur 🦴 😊.

Another year and another lockdown. We have compiled a list of our top 10 pieces of fitness equipment, that are generally inexpensive (aside from the fanbike) and great to achieve an awesome at home workout.
1- resistance bands, great for general purpose, highly adaptable and inexpensive
2- suspension training system - lots of options for these, be sure to check weight capacity limits when purchasing, also highly adaptable and relatively inexpensive
3- yoga or Swiss ball, great to exercise on or with, again look for weight capacity and burst probability.
4-adjustable step/riser, multipurpose, durable.
5- parallettes or “equalizers” multi purpose, durable, easy to use
6- kettle bell, any size will do, great for power and also multi purpose.
7- battle ropes, if you can afford it and want to add that little extra to a good workout
8- fan bike, most expensive, great for upper and lower endurance and power output.
9-weights - any amount and any size geared toward your goals. This is a subjective purchase but even a little variety in weight can make a difference if your workout. This is at the bottom of our list, because it’s not imperative if you have the other listed items, and purchasing now may mean you will pay way more than you need to, due to covid price gouging. Be careful!
10- glute ham developer - most frivolous of the list, the Swiss ball can provide what is necessary but this is go ones who want just that little extra without taking up a lot of space, multi functional and durable.

I’ve always considered myself to be a smaller individual, the first two pics were about a decade ago when I was literally 150lbs soaking wet. Since high school I was always obsessed (be it in an unhealthy way) with my stature. Being at my track and football workouts, I would admire the bigger athletes and wish that I could be like them.
Now at this point in the post I could talk about self love and appreciating who I am and not comparing myself to others (which is where I am at now) but it’s not.
It’s about how I got to be where i am now at 225lbs in the next two pics, and where I will be come the summer of 2021.
I never knew exactly where my fitness would be, I just knew I loved working out. As I got more involved through work and going to school .college and , I learned what it would take to get to the size I want.
We all know it takes hard work a dedication, and even that is subjective and difficult to master, but we all often forget about the food it requires.
With self image issues rampant, it take a lot of mental practice to get over that fact that your intake will have to exceed your requirements. You cannot gain mass if you run a deficit with your food. You may loose your 6pack for a bit, but it will still be there, and it will be better, once you achieve your goals, attain the mass you want, then, it’s time to cut.

A proper and functional back is only achievable with good scapular mechanics. At the ALC gym, .tyo is performing a scap plane, front lateral, with external rotation. This helps to keep the scap flush and recruit the proper muscles associated with scapular mobility.

😮 A Cheat meal! Yes indeed.
Obviously the subjectiveness of a cheat MEAL (not cheat DAY) is what I am emphasizing. Be smart about you are putting into your body. What you put in will ultimately determine what you get out of it.
Our meal this weekend was a chicken Caesar salad 🤤 with slices from a fresh baked loaf of bread (shoutout to for making the best bread for us) to dip in some balsamic vinegar and oil 🤤
Some might not consider this a cheat meal, which is why I wanted to make note of it. If you can extrapolate everything that goes into a meal and break down all the good and the bad, you can see that this meal, even though it was a salad, it had high saturated and trans fatty acid content. This is detrimental to cardiac health. So be mindful when you choose your meals.

to when was starting to learn the CDL mechanics. 195lbs was easy to clear strapless. The scap and hamstring work we did, improved her mechanics and was able to achieve a solid 245lbs (not recorded regrettably) sorry!
