As part of Pharmacy Appreciation Month, we’re proud to continue recognizing the incredible team at Medicine Corner. 💊

Today, we’re excited to highlight Jessyka Yard, our pharmacy student—and soon-to-be full-time pharmacist!

We’re thrilled to share that Jessyka will be officially joining our team as a pharmacist once she becomes licensed this July. Jessyka first spent time with us during a 6-week work term as part of her PharmD program and has continued to work with us part-time throughout her studies, often stepping in to help cover staff vacations.

Jessyka brings a positive energy that truly lifts everyone around her. As a new graduate, she brings a strong foundation of knowledge along with a genuine passion for patient care. Being from the area, she’s already a familiar and friendly face to many—and it’s clear she’s well known and well loved in the community! She creates an environment where patients feel at ease and confident in their care. Her warm, welcoming personality naturally draws people to her, and she consistently shows herself to be professional, dependable, and knowledgeable in everything she does.

Even while working with us as a student, she has taken on a significant role in the pharmacy—helping to ease the workload of our pharmacists. Under supervision, she is able to provide injections, counsel patients on new medications, prescribe for minor ailments, and assess prescriptions to ensure patients are receiving the most appropriate therapy, even communicating with prescribers when needed.

Jessyka is currently working with us part-time while preparing for her licensing exam in May, and we couldn’t be more excited to officially welcome her as a full-time pharmacist this summer. Her energy is a breath of fresh air in the pharmacy, and we are sure to have a good day when Jess is working!

“Hi everyone! My name is Jessyka, and I’m a soon-to-be pharmacist at the Medicine Corner! I have been working hard for the past 5 years to complete the MUN PharmD program, and I am excited to be graduating in May 2026.

Throughout my program, I’ve completed a variety of practical rotations, where I discovered my passion for community pharmacy. I truly enjoy connecting with patients and helping with their medication needs—even if it’s just a quick chat!

Outside of the pharmacy life, I love spending time outdoors, getting my steps in around Witless Bay, and playing a good game of co****le 😆

As I approach graduation, I’m so grateful for the opportunity to work close to home on the Southern Shore. I’ve seen firsthand the incredible care the Medicine Corner provides, and I’m very excited to be part of such a wonderful team!”

As part of Pharmacy Appreciation Month, we’re proud to continue recognizing the incredible team at Medicine Corner. 💊

Today, we’d like to highlight Kelly Aylward, our second-year Pharmacy Student.

Kelly first joined us last winter for a few job shadowing hours, and it quickly became clear she would be a great fit for our team. From the beginning, Kelly has shown herself to be professional, dependable, and eager to learn. She brings such a warm and friendly presence to the pharmacy, always taking the time to connect with patients and make them feel comfortable and cared for. Kelly fit in seamlessly from day one, and her positive attitude, strong work ethic, and eagerness to learn have made her a valued part of our team.

Kelly worked full-time with us last summer and has continued with us part-time during the school year. She has stepped up to help cover staff vacations, pick up shifts when we’re short staffed and to help out during the holidays, making sure our team can get a well-deserved break. Her willingness to help out wherever needed does not go unnoticed.

She’s a smart young professional with a very bright future ahead in pharmacy, and we feel lucky to be part of her journey. We’re all really looking forward to having her back full-time this summer, after getting another year of pharmacy school under her belt!

“Hi, I’m Kelly! I am a second year pharmacy student at MUN. Outside the pharmacy, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and staying active by playing sports.

I started at Medicine Corner as a first year pharmacy student. I am passionate about helping others and value the meaningful connections community pharmacy allows me to build. I feel very lucky to be part of such a wonderful team who have been incredible mentors in the pharmacy world.

I am also very grateful to the patients at our pharmacy who trust me to be apart of their care. Having the opportunity to learn by observing and participating in your interactions with the pharmacist has helped me grow. You all play an important role in my education, and I look forward to continuing to serve you as a student and into my future career as a pharmacist!”

As part of Pharmacy Appreciation Month, we’re proud to take a moment to recognize the incredible team at Medicine Corner. 💊

Today, we’re so pleased to highlight Jackie Tucker, who has been with us for the last 5 years.

Jackie and I previously worked together in St. Anthony for four years, where I was so fortunate to begin my career as a pharmacist alongside the best pharmacy assistant I could have hoped for. She was a constant source of knowledge and support—always by my side, answering my many questions, guiding me through day-to-day challenges, and supporting me in every way possible. From the very beginning, Jackie carried herself with professionalism and treated me with genuine respect, which made a lasting impact on my confidence and growth as a new pharmacist. When she later moved to St. John’s to be closer to her daughters and grandchildren, we were so fortunate that she chose to continue her pharmacy career with us here at Medicine Corner.

In her role as a Pharmacy Assistant, Jackie is an essential part of keeping our workflow on track each day. She manages everything from prescription entry and phone calls to medication preparation and inventory organization with ease and efficiency. Beyond her core responsibilities, she has a remarkable ability to anticipate what needs to be done and takes initiative to keep everything running seamlessly without ever needing to be asked. Jackie is someone who works quietly in the background, but her impact is impossible to miss.

What truly sets Jackie apart is her loyalty, consistency and reliability. She comes in every day with a positive attitude, is always friendly and approachable, and remains calm and steady even during our busiest times. She is dependable, trustworthy, and gives the same level of effort every single day—right up until the very last minute of her shift! She is also always willing to stay a little later to help the team catch up after a particularly busy day. She treats the pharmacy as if it were her own, taking immense pride in her work and genuinely caring about the success of the business.

With over 30 years of experience, she brings a wealth of knowledge and professionalism to everything she does. Since recently transitioning to more semi-retired hours, we certainly feel her absence on the days she isn’t here! We are incredibly grateful for everything Jackie brings to our team—her dedication, pride, and steady presence make a difference each and every day… and we’re all quietly hoping she never fully retires!

Today, we’re honoured to highlight Lindsey Browne, our longest-standing team member. Lindsey has been with us since 2013, and over the years has become such an important part of our pharmacy family and the community we serve.

As a Pharmacy Assistant, Lindsey is at the heart of our day-to-day operations. From inputting prescriptions and answering phones to counting medications and organizing orders, she helps keep everything running smoothly and efficiently behind the scenes. She also always seems to know where everything is and who needs what! She plays a key role in keeping the pharmacy organized and running seamlessly each day.

But what truly makes Lindsey so special is the care she brings to every interaction. She knows so many of our patients by name—and even who’s related to who! Even though she’s not originally from the area, she has built genuine connections within our community. She always takes the time to check in with patients, especially with those who may not be feeling their best, and goes out of her way to make people feel seen, supported, and cared for.

Lindsey’s kindness doesn’t stop with our patients—she’s just as thoughtful with our team. Whether it’s bringing in baked goods or simply checking in to see how someone’s day is going, she helps create a supportive environment for everyone around her. It’s these small, but meaningful gestures that make her such an integral part of our team. We truly don’t know what we would do without her!

When I’m not at work, I’m spending time with my husband, our two kids, and our dog Archie—who has endless energy and a knack for finding (and stealing) any unattended human food… including the occasional box of chocolates.

I’m so grateful to be part of a team that truly cares about our patients and our community, and I’m always happy to help in any way I can.”

Today, we’d like to highlight Laura Tobin, our full-time Registered Pharmacy Technician. Since joining our team in May 2024, Laura has brought valuable experience from both hospital and community pharmacy settings and has become a trusted and valued member of Medicine Corner. She plays an essential role in ensuring safe, accurate, and efficient care for our patients. Laura recently returned from maternity leave in October 2025, and we’re so happy to have her back as part of our team!

Here’s a little bio so you can get to know Laura a little better:

“Hi, I’m Laura! I’m the Registered Pharmacy Technician at Medicine Corner. I’ve been working here part-time since 2019 and joined the full-time team in 2024.

When I’m not at work, I’m spending time with my partner Jacob and our 18-month-old twin girls, who love to explore and keep us busy!

As a Registered Pharmacy Technician, I perform technical checks on prescriptions and blister packaging, coordinate medication transfers, and I am trained and able to administer injections.

I’m very proud to be part of the Medicine Corner team and the care we’re able to provide to our community. I look forward to continuing to serve you!”

First, we’d like to highlight our full-time Pharmacist-in-Charge, Buena McIntosh. Since joining us in July 2025, Buena has been a wonderful addition to our team. She has quickly become a warm, friendly, and familiar face in our community, and is deeply committed to delivering exceptional patient care. We’re truly grateful to have her as part of our team.

Here’s a little bio from Buena so our patients can get to know her a little better:

“Hi, I’m Buena! I’m a licensed pharmacist with a background in both pharmacy and nursing from the Philippines. I moved to Canada in 2014 and continued my journey by completing the International Pharmacy Graduate Program at the University of Toronto. After successfully passing all my licensing exams, I’ve been practicing full scope as a pharmacist since 2019.

I’m truly passionate about caring for my patients and helping them feel confident about their health. Beyond medication counselling, I can assess and prescribe for minor ailments and provide injections to support your healthcare needs.

Together with our wonderful team at Medicine Corner, I’m here to provide compassionate, accessible, and comprehensive pharmacy care for our community. I look forward to serving you!”
