I can’t count the number of times moms have not eaten yet when I arrive at their homes - which is why I encourage one handed nutrition that is ready to go.

So many of my families have told me that breakfast sandwiches or burritos or egg bites have saved them from going hungry - especially when one partner goes to work!

Today, on National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, I honour the Survivors of residential schools, their families, and the children who never returned.

These schools operated in Canada as late as 1990. I cannot imagine the pain and heartbreak this inflicted on families, survivors and communities.

I am committed to listening and learning from our colonial past.
