With the first week of January coming to a close, if you are still feeling committed to those fitness resolutions, here are a couple "hard truths" about exercise that maybe no one has told you:

1. Consistency is key - doing an exercise routine once in a while won't get you results. True benefits come with consistent effort.

2. Consider your goals - do you just want to look good, or do you want functional strength to move through life and physical pursuits with ease? Because, there is a difference! You can look good, but have poor range of motion, and poor movement patterning, that still predispose you to injury.

3. Train for the goals you want to achieve - use a variety of positions, modes, and loads to achieve best outcomes while minimizing repetitive overuse injuries.

You can get there, and we're here to help make your exercise journey fun, safe, and effective!

As we shift into the "new year, new me" mindset of January, here are some things to consider (from a physiotherapist with 25 years in the fitness industry) that will give your exercise routine staying power and functional results:

1. Enjoyment: you should enjoy participating in whatever it is that you choose to do!

2. Environment: your workout space should be comfortable, inviting, and encouraging.

3. Longevity: think about your exercise goals and what you want to achieve long term. Life doesn't happen on a yoga mat, so make sure your exercises incorporate a variety of positions, movements, and loads.

4. Trends vs. Thoughtful Programming: fitness trends come and go, but always make sure you understand and practice foundational movements that transcend all exercise modes (ie. core activation, safe range of motion, proper form).

If you're looking for a studio that offers all of those things, plus a supportive community of members and instructors, comment "AEDIS" or DM for more info!

We look forward to meeting you and helping you achieve your goals.

PS- check back for exciting new additions to the schedule for 2026!
