🌀 **Understanding Superior Semicircular Canal Dehiscence (SSCD)** 🌀

Do you experience dizziness, vertigo, sound sensitivity, or feel unsteady when exposed to loud noises or pressure changes? These symptoms may be linked to a rare inner ear condition called **Superior Semicircular Canal Dehiscence (SSCD)**.

SSCD occurs when there is a thinning or opening in the bone overlying part of the inner ear, creating a “third window” that disrupts how sound and pressure are processed. This can lead to symptoms such as:
✔️ Vertigo or dizziness
✔️ Balance difficulties
✔️ Hearing internal sounds (like breathing or heartbeat)
✔️ Sensitivity to loud noises
✔️ Visual disturbance with movement

Although SSCD is uncommon, it is important to identify it early. While physiotherapists do not diagnose SSCD, **vestibular physiotherapy plays a key role in screening, symptom management, and recovery—especially before and after surgical treatment**.
