A phrase that started as a joke quickly took on a whole new meaning for me over the past few months.
Being “somewhat emotional” was always something I felt ashamed of—something I tried to hide (and I’m sure you can guess how that went). Over time, those unprocessed emotions festered and became more problematic the longer I avoided them (transitioning into “VERY emotional”). I also didn’t yet know how to emotionally regulate myself, so when I did express my feelings, it was often in ways that hurt others more than it helped.
In a season shaped by my daughter’s diagnosis, I’ve come to deeply appreciate how I process grief and major life changes. Strength doesn’t come from holding it all together perfectly—or even trying to appear that way. It comes from feeling, processing, and continuing forward when you’re ready.
If you’re navigating a season that feels heavy, know this: acknowledging your emotional health is caring for your physical body (and vice versa).
So, I’m Bre 👋🏻
I am somewhat emotional—and that is something I can now say I am proud of 💕
