Scripted television often shows CPR performed incorrectly. This can affect how the public responds to emergency situations, according to a recent study.

The Ultimate Saturday Night Time Capsule! 🎞️🍿

I just stumbled upon this absolute goldmine of year 2000 energy! Looking at this old Blockbuster flyer from August 2000, I can almost smell the floor wax and the butter-flavored popcorn.

Close your eyes for a second... It’s Saturday night, you just walked into Blockbuster, and the race is on. You’re scanning the "New Release" wall for Erin Brockovich or Romeo Must Die, praying there’s still one copy left behind the display card. We really lived through the wild west of home entertainment. Check out these prices:
$19.99 for The Tigger Movie on VHS? 📼
$29.99 to own a DVD of Reindeer Games? 💿
And remember the "Guaranteed Rental" promise? (Which apparently didn't even apply to those "fancy" new DVDs yet!)
Life was simpler when the biggest drama of your weekend was making sure you didn't get hit with a late fee because you forgot to "Be Kind, Rewind."
Who’s coming back to the year 2000 with me? What was your go-to rental snack? 👇

Fun Fact Friday! 🚑

Think you’re ready to perform a Grey’s Anatomy-style tracheotomy? Think again!

When you take a First Aid course with us, there are a few things we WON'T teach you:
❌ Emergency surgery: No tracheotomies here.
❌ "The Snap": We don't reset bones or pop joints back into place (leave that to the doctors!).
❌ Hollywood CPR: We skip the dramatic, ineffective splashing around you see in the movies.

What we WILL teach you is how to provide high-quality chest compressions and how to stabilize an injury until the pros arrive. Simple, effective skills save lives—not movie stunts.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen a "medic" do in a movie? Let us know below! 👇

Singing a song can help you maintain a steady pace with chest compressions during CPR. The oldest and classic example is to sing Staying Alive but some of us have been teaching this course for too long and are tired of that song 😂

Some other songs you could sing are
🎵Aretha Franklins Respect
🎵Gloria Gaynors I Will Survive

Here is the latest attempt at creating something using AI 🤖 😂😂

If you've been waiting for good news about skating on the Victoria Harbour it looks like it won't be happening this year.

BUT if you want outdoor public skating check out Batawa Lions Club - they have several rinks open to the public!

Do you know of other public rinks in the area? Let us know!

Parks | Unfortunately, the outdoor rinks at Victoria Park and Zwick’s Park will not open this season due to poor ice conditions.

A layer of slush beneath the snow has affected the ice quality and we are unable to safely get our equipment onto the surface to clear the snow and maintain the rinks. Our parks team has been regularly monitoring the ice, and despite the cold temperatures, the heavy snow cover continues to push water up through the ice, and conditions are not improving.

This isn’t the update we were hoping to share, but we appreciate your understanding and remain hopeful for better conditions next winter so we can get back out on the ice. 💙⛸️
