Dragonflies for Comfort, Dignity & Compassion
At Grand View Manor, palliative care is not just something we provide — it is a promise we uphold.
“Cure sometimes. Relieve often. Comfort always.”
There are sacred moments in our home when a resident is actively dying. Families gather at the bedside. Hands are held a little tighter. Stories are remembered. Love fills the room. Goodbyes are whispered.
During these tender times, we want to surround residents and families with quiet compassion.
Our dragonfly — the symbol of Grand View Manor’s palliative care committee — represents transformation, hope, and presence. We are inviting our community to help us honour end-of-life moments by submitting small dragonfly artworks for display in our home.
We are seeking nine (9) pieces — one for each household.
When a resident is nearing the end of life, a framed dragonfly will be placed at the entrance of that household. It serves as a gentle, respectful signal that someone inside is saying goodbye, and a reminder to all who enter to move softly, speak kindly, and hold space for grief and love.
This is not a contest with prizes.
It is an opportunity to impact someone’s final days.
It is a way to bring dignity, comfort, and community into life’s most vulnerable moments.
Submission Guidelines:
- Must feature a dragonfly
- Maximum size 8x10 inches
- Must be able to be framed behind glass (infection control requirement)
- Open to all ages and artistic styles
Nine pieces will be selected for permanent display in our new building.
Your artwork will become part of the heart of Grand View Manor — present in moments that matter most.
Submission Closing Date: May 31, 2026
Drop-Off Location: Grand View Manor - 110 A Commercial Street, Berwick NS
