The Hermit Witch

The Hermit Witch I love the world of Tarot and have my own personal twist when doing in-person readings. The cards offer guidance to help us look at what is already inside us.

I don't think they tell the future, but can give us perspective and direction.

November 17, 2025

With the Seven of Swords as our Vision card starting out this wheel, it's going to be a week for using strategy and wit. It's also going to be important to pay attention to who, what, and where you place your trust. Everything is not as it seems at first glance.

At its worst this card can represent betrayal and deception. And this week there is a sense of self-deception. What are you avoiding dealing with? What emotions or issues are you trying to ignore?

Some things are better not dealing with head on, but rather, are better dealt with in a more subtle or strategic manner. But don't fool yourself into thinking you are using strategy to completely avoid the issue all together. This week it's up to you to parse out whether you are hiding from the problem, or trying to find a better angle to come at it. Only you will know the truth about that.

Donkeyskin is a Fairytale about a princess who has to go to extreme measures to escape having to wed her own Father. To the point where she disguises herself in the skin of her Father's prized donkey to leave the castle. Her situation seems to get worse and worse until she is finally able to reveal herself to the right people who can help her.

Like Donkeyskin, the Eight of Swords has a woman, blindfolded and appearing to be trapped. But she can escape at any time. She just has to take off the blindfold and see the solution.

This card is all about mindset. If we look at our situation as hopeless and ourselves as the perpetual victims, we will never see the solutions to our problems that will make our lives better. In the story, the princess went to her guide, the Lilac Fairy, who gave her the outlandish plan. But the princess trusted her to the end. That Fairy represents our intuition.

This week's wheel consisted of all sword cards and the Emperor. Swords in the Tarot are representive of of the mental aspects of ourselves; how and what we think. There is a  strong message here to focus on how we think about and speak to ourselves. Our own insecurities can be our worst enemies. Overthinking can create anxiety and a negative mindset. If you are at a loss of what to do. Take a deep breath and listen to your gut. You never know what your fairy guides might come up with 😉🧚‍♀️

November 13, 2025

The Four of Swords as the Healing card this week is a clue to how you will know when you have found the new structure that is right for your life. This card represents rest and recuperation after stressful or difficult events. The original card has a knight, resting in his tomb after a life of battle.

As we are trying to leave the stress and trauma of our past behind and build structure and security in our new life, you will know when you find what is right for you by how it energizes you rather than drains you.

As you find new practices, take the time to stop and be aware of how they make you feel and think. Practice self-awareness the entire time you are experimenting with new routines. How they affect your mood and perspective is telling of how it may be benefiting your wellbeing.

With the Page of Swords as our Manifestation card this week we are being encouraged to approach this new stage of our life as an eager and curious student.

You are trying to introduce new routines and disciplines into your everyday life. This is going to involve collecting a lot of new knowledge and skills you may have no experience in. It may also involve opportunities to be creative with problem solving as you try to find ways to make all this newness fit comfortably into you daily routine.

Find ways to keep things exciting and interesting for yourself. You don't want to approach your new routine structure as a chore you must slog through. This is an opportunity to mix things up a bit and make your new life something to look forward to. Think outside the box, there are no wrong answers.

The Six of Swords as our Power card this week is telling us that we can make the conscious decision to move on from a difficult past and work towards a brighter and happier future.

If we plan to set up more structure and discipline in our lives as yesterday's Emperor suggests, we may find ourselves not willing to let go of past traumas or triggers that stand in our way of practicing new routines.

This means giving ourselves a bit of grace when the difficulties of the past pop up again and making the conscious choices toward the new way of being each and every time. This is a gradual process, like the water flowing down the river in this card. Change doesn't happen overnight. The transition to a new life is gradual and you may only notice how big the change is in hindsight.

November 10, 2025

We start this week with the Vision of the Emperor. Depicted here as the Cheshire Cat. He is the only character in the book who seems to be outside the narrative, watching everything that happens. He seems to know more about everything, while all the other characters appear to be fumbling about. He might be the one who has actual control.

It's being suggested this week that maybe it's time to introduce some structure and discipline into your life. Something foundational that you will be able to stick to and will benefit your overall health, mentally and physically.

As we head into winter and the holiday season, the temptation to let go of all the healthy routines we developed during the long hours of sunshine is strong. But you are the ruler of your own life, and you have control over the choices you make for your own health. Stick to what you know is good for you.

If you keep that foundational routine, the exceptions to the routine over the holidays won't cause you to completely abandon it. Knowing it's still there the next day should bring a sense of security and confidence in yourself. Rather than a punishment for "breaking the rules."

With Beautiful timing, the story of Tam Lin appears as our lesson in the card Strength while the season of Samhain is coming to a close.

Tam Lin is a legendary figure from Scottish folklore, known for being a human knight captured by the Queen of the Fairies. The story, most famously told in the ballad "Tam Lin," recounts how his lover, Janet, rescues him by enduring a series of magical transformations and challenges on Halloween night. Janet's courage and love ultimately break the enchantment, freeing Tam Lin from the fairies' control.

Janet had to use an amazing level of will power and love to hang onto Tam Lin as he uncontrollably transformed into numerous dangerous beasts, with faith that he would never hurt her.

In a similar sense, during this weeks inner journey and subsequent big changes that will come with it, we have to be willing to have the same level of willpower and fortitude. We also have to be able to give ourselves grace, faith, and compassion as we may have difficult moments or even scare ourselves.

Huge inner transformation is not all love and light. It can also be shadow, lashing out, and struggle. We need to be able to embrace ourselves in those moments more than any others.

I've included a tiktok link this week instead of a written source. Kenny Boyle does an excellent job of telling this story:

November 6, 2025

The Hermit in the Healing position this week is reminding us of the importance of taking inner journeys for wisdom. Remember, the Hero's quest is an outward example of what we can go through inside our own minds and hearts. But the Hermit reminds us to remain humble within our own journey. We cannot expect fanfare and accolades at every epiphany we hit.

And yes, it is our own personal journey, but we also have an obligation to share our wisdom with others. The Hermit eventually comes back from his pilgrimage as well, just like the hero. Shining his lantern of wisdom on whomever he meets. With peace, presence, and stillness.

Have you ever met this kind of person? Somehow just being in their presence brings you peace and stillness. And they just seem to always say thr right thing. These are the people who have done the work and have had the transformative experiences in their lives. We can all have a bit of that ourselves if we are willing to do the work.

November 5, 2025

The Queen of Wands as our Manifestation card this week is saying don't be afraid to express yourself, don't be afraid of taking that risk. Don't be afraid of other people's judgements, and don't be afraid of making mistakes or not being perfect.

You're on a quest of self-discovery. You're going to change and do things others might find out of character or may even challenge their own perspectives. And they may fight it or judge your actions. But you're the Queen of Wands. You follow your intuition and your heart. Ignoring superstitions and rules that exist simply because that's what's always been done.

It's time to shake up your own paradigm, and in doing so, you may rattle other people's own paradigms in your wake. This could be a good thing. But remember, other people's reactions are not your responsibility. This should be a freeing idea.

You might make mistakes, but that's okay. A lot of this stuff is a first time for you, and you're just gonna have to learn as you go. Continue your quest for inner truth with love and respect, but also with a little bit of "I don't give a damn!"

November 4, 2025

When we look at the Death card from the Wonderland deck, I'm sure all of you can hear what the Queen is yelling... "Off With Her Head!"; this is your power this week.

You are the Queen of Hearts definitively deciding when something is dead, done, and over with in your life. You are the boy slaying the Jabberwocky in yesterday's card. You are the Reaper in the traditional tarot deck, bringing about a final change in your life that can not and must not be undone.

When we are dealing with a deep internal struggle it can involve drastically changing how we move through life. If our goal is to become better people, then there will be things we do, ways we act, and even relationships we keep, that will need to end right now, full stop.

These changes are big, and like death can be scary. But your power is to initiate these changes. And they may be changes that only you can do, they aren't just gonna happen from the outside.

November 3, 2025

Our Vision for this week's wheel is starting off boldly and bluntly with The Devil. Depicted in this deck as the Jabberwocky. In Through the Looking Glass, Alice doesn't actually encounter the Jabberwocky. She reads the poem about a boy that goes to slay the Jabberwock.

This poem acts as the quintessential hero's quest in capsule form. An ordinary person leaves home and loved ones behind on a perilous quest to slay or find something. Coming home now changed, a hero. Something more or better. The hero's quest is an outward telling of an alchemical internal journey every human goes through in life when seeking growth, change, or inner wisdom.

And The Devil card today, is asking us, what inner stories are we telling ourselves? Especially the ones that go negative or habitually keep us down or stuck where we are. They may even manifest themselves into bad habits or addictions in our lives, acting as unhealthy coping mechanisms.

This week we are being asked to address them. What we tell ourselves internally projects outwardly and plays out on life's stage. For better or for worse.

The Snow Queen is an 1844 fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen about two best friends, Kai and Gerda. After a magical mirror shatters, a piece lodges in Kai's eye and heart, making him cruel and leading the Snow Queen to take him to her ice palace. Gerda embarks on a long journey to rescue him, eventually breaking the Snow Queen's enchantment with her tears and love.

Though they're friendship is restored, the experience has changed them both. And for us, life can be very much the same way. Our past shapes who we are and we become very different people than when we were children. And this week, as we journey through leaving the pain of the past behind, we fear it may mean we also have to leave behind our memory of who we were and what we loved.

It's okay to be nostalgic. Everything in our past was not bad. Though things may be different now, what was good can still be held in our hearts with fondness. Maybe, as we rediscover who we are now, the good things can be brought back, though never exactly the same, hopefully new and improved.
