It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Carter Wyatt Majeau on Friday, December 26, 2025 at the age of 31 years. A devoted husband, a proud father, a beloved son, and a loyal friend. Carter left us far too soon, leaving behind a legacy of love and strength.

Carter’s greatest joy and proudest achievement was the family he built. He was a deeply loved husband and best friend to Tanisha. Together, they were raising two beautiful sons, Rylan and Sawyer. Carter was a hands-on father who lived for his boys; his spirit will undoubtedly live on through them.

Carter is survived by his parents, Leslie and Victor Majeau. He was a steady presence and a dear brother to Austin and his wife Harley. "Uncle Carter" will be deeply missed by his nephews, Walker and Tanner.

He will be forever remembered by his grandmothers, Angeline Majeau and Fran Kampjes, as well as his in-laws, Gerald & Krista, and Allison & Joe. Carter also leaves behind a large, close-knit circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, coworkers, and friends who were like family to him.

Carter was predeceased by his grandfathers, Oscar Majeau and John Kampjes, who we find comfort in believing were there to welcome him home.

"Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near; still loved, still missed, and very dear."

John Brodyk
May 2, 1936 ~ November 8, 2025

We are sad to announce the passing of John Brodyk on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the age of 89 years.

Uncle John was predeceased by his mother, Jenny Brodyk; his father, Fred Brodyk; his brother, Ken Brodyk, his brother, Mike Brodyk; his brother, Bill Brodyk; his sister, Elizabeth Fotty (nee Brodyk); his brother, Larry Brodyk; and his partner, Mary Mulak.

Uncle John grew up on the family farm near Smoky Lake. He was a man looking for adventure and, after finishing school, he moved to British Columbia before boarding a ship and moving to Australia where he worked on the railways for 25 years. After he returned to Canada, he settled down in Waskatenau where he enjoyed the small village lifestyle while still maintaining an active life. With his camper and boat, he and his partner travelled all over Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Alaska.

Uncle John had many hobbies. He enjoyed reading, gardening, fishing, cooking, and regular card games at his sister’s house. He liked dancing and music and went to a
variety of music festivals around the province. He liked to feed the birds and kept tubs of bird feed on hand.

Uncle John never threw anything away if he could repurpose it. He changed old tires into swan figurine planters. He changed old garbage can lids into bird feeders. Tin cans
became mounts for curtain rods. Old coffee containers became junction boxes in the yard to connect extension cord plugs. Old window screens became bug screens on the front of his truck. He was a mechanic and maintained his own vehicle. Uncle John also liked to work with wood and created silhouette figures of cowboys and cowgirls out of plywood to decorate barns, garages and other buildings. His work shop in his garage was huge and well equipped. He kept physically active for most of his life until he became ill and lost his mobility in the spring of 2025.

Uncle John will be missed by his friends and family.

The family expresses their sincere gratitude to Dr. El Hajj and the staff at the Lamont Hospital for their quality of care and compassion during the last months of Uncle John‘s life.

At Uncle John’s request, there will be no funeral service.

In Loving Memory of
Elizabeth “Jill” Flaherty (nee Hyatt)
January 10, 1945 ~ December 18, 2025

With deep love, we share the passing of our Mom, Elizabeth “Jill” Flaherty, at the age of 80 years, on Thursday, December 18, 2025.

She leaves behind her daughters, Shawne, Jennifer (Bryan), and Darlene; her grandchildren, Amy (Eli), Ellen, Lucy, Branden, Travis (Alexandra), and Evan (Cheyanne); her great-grandchildren, Luca and Aubrey; her brother, Eric (Narumi); as well as her nieces and nephews in Ontario and B.C.

She is reunited with our Dad, her husband, Robert “Bob” Flaherty. Mom was predeceased by her brother, Keith (Fran) and her niece, Christine.

Mom began her nursing career in Ontario and later moved to Penticton, B.C. where she worked at Penticton Regional Hospital until retirement. After Dad’s passing, she settled in St. Albert to be close to family and her grandchildren. When she came to Alberta from B.C. she worked for the Loseca Foundation and remained connected with many people there after full retirement.

In her earlier years, Mom loved to travel—especially to the U.K. She also enjoyed visiting family in Ontario. In her later years, Mom enjoyed daily walks, aquasize classes, and coffee with friends. But most of all, she cherished time with family.

Mom was once a competitive figure skater, this stayed with her all her life. It showed in her love of movement and strength.

Most likely she is now lacing up her skates, ready to join Dad (a hockey player) on the ice . We know she is surrounded by family and love, and her many furry companions are waiting there too.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has been a part of Mom’s life over the years, and to her doctors and specialists who helped guide and support her through these past few years.

Jill will be buried alongside her husband Bob in Penticton, British Columbia, in the spring. There will also be a Celebration of Jill’s life in St. Albert, Alberta, details to be announced at a later date.

He loved working with these children and devoted many hours to ensure each child had a great experience. He gave his time and energy to help friends and family wherever possible. His greatest pride and joy though was his family. Spending time with his 2 beautiful children, taking them on many hockey road trips and camping trips. He has been heard to say “you have never watched a hockey game until you have seen your own kid play” and “whatever is worth doing, is worth doing well.” In his last few years Louis got to spend time with his precious grandsons and they always brought joy to his heart. He often asked, “are you picking the boys up today.”

Joseph loved living on his acreage, riding horses, quads, snowmobiles and motorcycles and of course.. spending time with his family.

Eulogy written by family for Joseph

Joe was a caring father and devoted to his family and community. He was born in Berg en Terblijt, Holland March 13, 1949, and immigrated to Edmonton, Alberta with his father, mother, sister and brother in 1952. The family moved into the community of Beverly (now east part of Edmonton) and the Weber family grew to include five brothers and four sisters. He attended school in the community and eventually took trade school at St Joseph High School. He met Barbara Jean Carmichael and they were married December 14, 1968, at the age of nineteen. He attended Nait and received his diploma in Plumbing / Pipefitting. In 1969, their daughter Margaret Mary was born and in 1971 their son Jack Donald followed. The family moved from Edmonton to Bon Accord in 1972 where they had their second daughter Patricia Jean in 1973. Joe joined the local adult hockey club and played with the Coronado Cougars and Bon Accord Outlaws. He passed his love of hockey to his children by having skating rinks in the backyard.

In 1975, Joe and Barb went for a drive and came across a lot overlooking a valley and the Sturgeon River and fell in love! It was always a dream of Joe’s to live in the country. The lot was bought, a house package ordered, and while working in Fort McMurray, Joe came home to build the house in his spare time. The family lived in a tent trailer the summer that the house was getting built and eventually moved into the basement while the main floor was being finished. On September 1, 1977, the family moved upstairs, and they welcomed their third daughter Anne Elizabeth. Once settled on the acreage, Joe purchased some horses where he did competitive trail riding, and his love of horses followed him throughout the years. When Jack joined the Gibbons Minor Hockey Association, Dad became involved in the hockey program as a parent and coach which he did for many years.. even after Jack was done playing. Joe loved being a part of the community and tried to volunteer where he could. He was always up for some good competition and one year during the Gibbons Agri-Fair, he entered the home baked chocolate cake class and won first prize! Joe loved sports and being outside working on the acreage.

In the late 1980’s, Joe and Barb purchased a school bus, and this eventually grew to a business with 7 buses. When Joe was unable to work as a pipefitter, he went on to drive a bus to the Redwater Schools. A profession that he loved and did right up to his early 70’s where he drove 2 generations of kids. Also in the late 1980’s, Joe's friend Tom Walter approached Joe to enlist him in the construction of Goose Hummock Golf Course where he used his beloved Ford tractor to build some of the Hummocks. With such a connection to this local golf course, Joe and Barb had memberships and spent many days golfing there with their friends. Dad even had a momentous moment on the course, where he got an albatross (2 on a par 5)!

He had motorcycles and quads and loved to spend time riding with family and friends. In 2004 while riding his quad with friends and family, dad was in an accident and was rushed to the hospital where he spent 3 weeks in intensive care and 3 more months in Fort Saskatchewan Hospital convalescing. This accident did not slow Joe down; he continued to ride his motorcycle and new Polaris Ranger and snowmobiles. In late 2000’s Joe and Barb were convinced by their best friends – Len and Mickey Schwanke to purchase a lake lot at Eagles Nest RV Resort on Moyie Lake where they would spend their summers enjoying lake activities and catching up with Len and Mickey. Joe cherished this time and looked forward to it every year.

Family was everything to Joe…there were many family BBQs and wiener roasts. Joe loved having the grandkids – Kenny, Katlyn, Sheldon, Aiden and Scott come to the acreage to play and visit. Joe lived at the acreage and enjoyed 47 wonderful years there. In 2022, after some health complications, Joe and Barb sold the acreage and moved into a condo in Gibbons. There, he tried to get used to condo living but struggled with this new lifestyle. He was still able to visit the acreage as it was still in the family and it gave him something to look forward to…like cutting the lawn when his health allowed it. On June 27th 2025 Joe went to Sturgeon Hospital where he remained until October 9th when he was transferred to the Royal Alexandra Hospital for a possible surgery. His health declined rapidly and at 3 am on October 15th with his wife and daughter at his side, Joe passed away. Many thanks to the nurses at both hospitals and all the extended family that came to sit vigil with Joe during the last week of his life.

Ride on in Heaven Joe!
