Effective immediately, I am implementing a new policy around direct billing for clients in the Workplace NL program. Before paying out a claim to me, Canada Life is now requiring each patient to provide proof to them that Workplace isn’t paying the claim- this extra paperwork means several weeks of delay and long hours communicating with Workplace case workers, my clients, and Canada Life trying to untangle why claims aren’t being paid on time. The administrative burden this puts on me is becoming too much.
Going forward, if you are off work due to a workplace injury and have an open claim, you will have to pay for massage up front and then submit your receipt to Canada Life for reimbursement. I apologize for the extra work, but I am no longer able to juggle the many extra steps required for multiple cases at any given time.
However, from what I understand, Canada Life will still pay for treatments, and I am still more than happy to treat you! The benefit of massage therapy for soft tissue injuries is indisputable, and I’m committed to being part of your recovery.
