The Bowen Island Community Health Centre is operated and governed by the Bowen Island Health Centre Foundation.

It receives operating funding from the Province of BC to support residents of Bowen Island.

Foundry concurrent disorders clinician Shannon Eberts (RCC) will be at the health centre on March 17th and 24th (the Tuesdays in spring break) 10am-5pm. Shannon is taking appointments for youth aged 12-24 to talk about any questions, concerns, or struggles with their mental health, substance use, or both.

Appointments are also available for the parents & caregivers of youth aged 12-24 who would like to talk with someone about a youth in their life who is struggling with their mental health and/or substance use.

Drop-in times may be available if all appointment slots are not booked, but reserving a time is strongly recommended.

PAIN HURTS

A free talk on Friday, February 27th, 11am-1pm at the library.

Three speakers will discuss pain reduction, restoring function, and alleviating social isolation.

Shirvin Lee from Pain BC, Sandy Logan from the Bowen Island Wellness Centre, and Dr Brenda Lau from Change Pain.

February is Heart Smart Month. Join us at the Community Centre on Saturday, February 21st at 10:30am to learn about CPR and AED use, the Bowen Community AED Program, signs of angina vs heart attack, and more.

Presented in collaboration with Bowen Island Municipality, Lifesavers with Amanda, and the Rotary Club of Bowen Island.

CANCELLED

From BC Cancer:

"Unfortunately, due to unforeseen and necessary repairs to the mobile mammography van, we will regrettably need to cancel our visit to Bowen Island that was scheduled from February 5-7, 2026. Please know that the decision to cancel the visit to Bowen Island was carefully considered, but ultimately repairs must be completed before than van can resume service. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused by the cancellations.

"We are currently reaching out to all impacted clients to inform them of this change."

Staff from the Alzheimer Society of BC will be on-site at the health centre to answer your questions on Friday, Feb 20th, 10:30am-2:30pm.

If you have any questions about Alzheimer's disease and/or dementia, the services of the Alzheimer Society, available resources, useful strategies, etc, whether for yourself or someone in your life, this is a great opportunity to speak with someone.

Walk-ins are welcome, but booked appointments will take priority.

We've had a great response to our seasonal immunization clinic at the health centre, delivering hundreds of flu and covid shots already over the last two weeks.

***You do not need to be a patient here, and you do not need to wait for your email/text invitation to book an appointment at the health centre for your flu and/or covid shots.***

There's still time if you haven't had your shots this year! The immunization clinic is running until 7:00pm this evening, and Monday-Thursday 9:30am-3:00pm next week, with extended hours until 7:00pm on the final day, Thursday, November 6th.

We have capacity for walk-in appointments, and can accommodate all ages above 6 months.

An introductory course about Type 2 Diabetes with Certified Diabetes Educator Hailey Fernandez, RN.

This course is designed for Bowen Island residents who already have a Type 2 Diabetes diagnosis.

The course will cover blood glucose targets, glucometer use (provided during session), medications, hypoglycemia, physical activity & healthy eating.
