World Cancer Day is an international awareness day observed every year on 4 February to raise awareness about cancer, encourage prevention, and mobilise collective action to confront the global cancer challenge. Led by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), this global day brings together communities, organisations and individuals across a multitude of countries to remind us all that we have a role to play in reducing the impact of cancer.
This year’s theme emphasises that every experience with cancer is deeply personal and unique. Behind every diagnosis there are stories of resilience, hope, loss, strength, love and courage. When we place people and their stories at the centre of cancer care, we can shape systems that truly support everyone.
World Cancer Day isn’t just a day on the calendar, it’s a call to action. Through education, awareness and shared effort, we can promote early detection, improve access to life-saving treatment, fight stigma and push for equitable care that reaches every community.
