Generosity doesn’t have an age requirement.

When Griffin Brooks was asked why he wanted to support South Muskoka Hospital, his answer was simple: “So they can help more people get better.”

After seeing the care his brother and dad received, Griffin and Jackson decided they wanted to give back. With the help of their family, they turned their idea into a fundraiser in support of their hospital.

We are continually inspired by young people who step forward and show that giving back can start at any age.

“I just love helping people. I love giving back to our community.”

At just 19 years old, Jackson Selkirk has been hosting a community golf tournament for 15 years, and for the past two, he’s chosen to direct it in support of South Muskoka Hospital Foundation.

In 2023, that decision became deeply personal when Jackson experienced a shunt blockage, and the team at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital acted fast. “They rushed me into a room, got me for a CT scan, and had me in an ambulance to SickKids in under an hour. That right there is amazing urgent emergency care.”

Now, supporting his local hospital “means the world to me.” That’s how third-party events begin, with something you love and a reason to give back.
