Stress Rx Massage

Stress Rx Massage Registered Massage Therapy Stress Rx Massage was founded in 2010 by me, Nele Meuleman after 9 years of practicing in various clinical settings.

I graduated from Centennial College in May 2001 and received my massage therapist designation from the CMTO. I began my massage career in Whitby until I moved to Bradford in late 2009. I have worked in a spa setting, a massage focused clinic and 2 chiropractic clinics, as well as having my own home based business. In 2005 I graduated with honours from the Durham College paramedic program and received my A-EMCA designation from the Ministry of Health at the same time. I am currently employed as a full time paramedic. In July 2013 I started my journey to become a certified Doula. I am now certified as a birth doula through DONA International. After having my first child I realized the need for women in labor support roles. Due to all of my commitments with family and work, I take minimal births each year. Stress Rx Massage is based on the belief that all patients' needs are of the utmost importance. I am committed to meeting those needs.

*** this is a home based facility. We have hypoallergenic pets and are not wheelchair friendly ***

I’m loving these cadaver videos! Today I’m sharing the one on PTSD. The trauma actually changes the way your brain functions. Be kind to yourself and others. We never know what others around us are dealing with.

When I ask if you get headaches while I’m working on your neck, this is why! Your trapezius muscle connects to your skull (as do other neck and upper back muscles). So if these are super tight, chances are you suffer from headaches.

I frequently get asked what I’m feeling for when massaging. I try to explain it as best as I can. I mention that muscle fibres run in different directions and that’s why I can massage the same muscle with two different angles and it feels different to the client. One angle may be relaxing while the other is more painful. This shows what I mean about muscle fibres being different in different muscles.

Muscle architecture is kinda awesome.

This is a neat video to watch. It shows where the sciatic nerve comes out behind the knee. Remember that this nerve starts at the base of the spine and runs all of the way in to your foot. There are many areas that this nerve can be “pinched” so it’s not an “easy” fix when it starts to bother you. Stretching your gleut and hamstring muscles are very helpful to prevent sciatic pain but accidents can still happen.

Anatomically they’re called the posterior thigh group.

We love being able to direct bill through the Telus portal. Unfortunately sometimes things change. We just received word that Sunlife will no longer be accessible through this portal. Starting at the end of November, all people with Sunlife coverage will have to pay me for their services and then submit their claims themselves. 😢
