Interoception means sensing internal signals from your body, like when you are hungry, when your heart is beating fast, or when you need the toilet. Sometimes, we may not notice these physical experiences and how they are connected to our emotions. Many children who have emotional and developmental challenges have a hard time being in charge of their emotions and their interoception skills are challenged because other signals get in the way.
