🫀 Heart Health Month | Small steps, big impact...
February is Heart Health Month, a reminder that your heart benefits from the little things you do consistently.
Here are 5 heart-healthy habits that make a difference:
🚶 Move more (even a 10–20 minute walk counts)
🫘 Choose more fibre (oats, beans, vegetables, fruit)
🧂 Watch sodium (processed foods are the biggest source)
💤 Sleep 7–9 hours when possible
🌬️ Manage stress (breathing, connection, routine, support)
🍋 Quick sodium tip: boost flavour with lemon/lime, vinegar, garlic, herbs, pepper, and salt-free seasoning blends—then taste before adding salt.
If you have risk factors like high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, smoking, a family history of heart disease, or you’re over 40, it may be a good time to check in on your heart health.
If you’re a patient of Queen Square Doctors & Family Health Team, book an appointment to discuss:
• blood pressure checks
• cholesterol and diabetes screening
• lifestyle supports and goal-setting
• medication reviews (when needed)
Your heart does a lot for you. Let’s take good care of it. ❤️
We offer workshops on sleep, cholesterol management, healthy eating, mindfulness, and coping with stress to the community. Check out our workshop calendar in the bio for dates and registration info.
