🤔 One of the most common things concussion patients say is "my doctor said it's okay to push into symptoms.”

That advice isn’t completely wrong.

But without understanding how much, many patients end up stuck.

Recovery isn’t about avoiding symptoms.

It’s about exposing the brain to the right amount of stimulus.

🧠 Concussion rehabilitation is a specialized area of care. Working with a team that focuses on concussion assessment and evidence-based rehabilitation can make a meaningful difference in outcomes.

🦶Ankle sprains often leads to reduced ankle dorsiflexion because swelling, pain, and joint irritation can limit the normal forward glide of the talus in the ankle joint.

The body may also reflexively tighten surrounding muscles to protect the injured area, further restricting motion.

🏃‍♀️When dorsiflexion is limited, everyday movements like squatting, walking downhill, running, and climbing stairs become less efficient and can place extra stress on the knee, Achilles tendon, and foot.

👩‍⚕️Restoring dorsiflexion is important for normal movement mechanics and for reducing the risk of ongoing ankle instability or repeat sprains.

🧠 TL;DW If you have a recent (within ~2 weeks), concussion without risk factors for Post Concussion Syndrome, often rehab lasts a couple weeks.

🤕If you have (Persistent) Post Concussion Syndrome, now we're retraining systems and that takes longer. Your recovery time will likely be impacted by extenuating life circumstances (stress, sleep, sensory exposures, etc). Recovery IS possible but you have to be in rehab that addresses root causes across all affected systems. This type of rehab often lasts months, with progress evident throughout.

💡 Important:

Persistent symptoms do NOT mean permanent damage.

Recovery is possible — especially when rehab targets the root drivers across multiple systems.

If you feel stuck, it may not be about time. It may be about strategy.

📩 Reach out if you’re unsure what’s driving your symptoms !
