IT’S OK TO SEEK HELP!
Ask for help as a caregiver when you experience exhaustion, social withdrawal, or increased irritability toward your loved one and others. Do not wait for burnout; reach out when you are missing your own health appointments, experiencing burnout symptoms, or struggling to manage daily tasks.
Signs It’s Time to Ask for Help❤️🩹
Physical & Mental Health Decline: Persistent fatigue, insomnia, headaches, depression, or sudden weight changes.
Irritability and Anger: Frequent impatience or anger toward the person you are caring for, followed by guilt.
Overwhelmed & Isolated: You feel like you can no longer manage the demands and have stopped seeing friends or enjoying hobbies.
Safety Concerns: You are struggling to lift the person or feel you can no longer keep them safe.
How to Start Asking:
Be Specific: Instead of saying "I'm fine," create a list of specific needs (e.g., "Could you pick up groceries on Tuesday?").
Utilize Professional Support: Contact your doctor for a referral, or look into respite care
It is recommended to seek help before you reach a breaking point, as caregiving is a team effort, not a solo task.
You are not Alone!
