Taiwanese researchers discovered acupuncture triggering stem cell release healing damaged organs naturally. Scientists at China Medical University found that electroacupuncture at specific meridian points stimulates bone marrow to release mesenchymal stem cells into circulation, which then migrate to injured organs and promote tissue repair. This mechanism explains acupuncture's therapeutic effects through measurable biological processes rather than placebo.

Traditional Chinese medicine has used acupuncture for thousands of years, but Western medicine dismissed it as placebo due to lack of biological mechanism. Bio: Graduated from the Canadian College of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2013, practicing for several years in the Wolfville area, and the last 9 years on the South Shore. Continued education along the way has included training in Maya Abdominal Therapy - gentle hands on techniques helpful for a variety of women’s health issues, including pelvic and low back pain and fertility. Currently I am working on my BA in Sociology and Anthropology with a minor in Indigenous studies at Dalhousie.

Traditional Chinese Medicine responds to and treats the unique individual. It is both a science and an art. I love sharing knowledge behind how these modalities work, and encourage home care whenever possible, with things like moxibustion, gua sha, and self-care abdominal massage (taught in Arvigo sessions).

Limited in-home treatments are available within neighbouring communities (Port Williams, Wolfville, Canning). I’m also open to traveling to communities further afield with enough interest, and/or providing community-style acupuncture. Please contact if interested to discuss.

Calm Abiding beginner’s meditation

This free recurring 8-week program runs every Wednesday evening from 6:45 pm – 8:30 pm). It takes students through the fundamentals of establishing a daily meditation practice. Calm abiding meditation involves learning how to relax, have a peaceful state of mind, and suffer less. Mark Powell has taught this program under the direction of Karma Sonam Dargye Ling ‘s (www.ksdl.org) resident teacher Lama Tenzin since 2018.

Starting November 28th we will be collecting food items and toiletries for the food bank at Soul's Harbour in Bridgewater. We encourage you to bring pantry items but also special Christmas goodies. Nice soaps and hair care products are also needed and appreciated. We will have a large bin in the lobby River Roots Wellness and will drop off items by December 22nd.
