It's Christmas Eve morning at Balsam, and it is time to relax in holiday hats, share special time with family who visit, and exchange gifts before the man in the red suit arrives under the peaceful darkness of Christmas.🎁🎄

Balsam is a place for supported people to learn how to cook meals for themselves and others, learn independent dressing skills, and how to transition into community living with knowledge and understanding of accessing supports. 🥘🥣

Kitchen staff are an essential part of a healthy lifestyle at Balsam through their experience and education. Balsam provides specialized diets to meet the nutritional needs of every individual living at the ARC. Much love and care go into food prep and delivery of meals. 🍞🥦🍕🍔

Staff lovingly take time to support individuals in their daily hygiene and dressing routines, often helping them with the little extras like earrings, holiday attire, or glittering head pieces that make a unique and individual statement ❤️ 👗👒💄💍👔

As Christmas Day approaches and 2025 comes to a close, the leadership team at Balsam took some well deserved time to share a meal, enjoy laughs, reflect on the year, and look toward a bright future of positive changes for those supported.

Balsam leadership and staff are thinking ahead, preparing for supportive transitions into community living, and always ready to take on a project or program that will benefit those in need of support. The people we care for are like family and we are ready to rock and roll🎸🥰

The folks living at Fernwood House are busy donning their 'Imagination Destination' hats and 'Bob The Builder' skills to create the most gingerly of gingerbread houses 🏡💡🔨

People living in any of our three lovely Small Community Living Options Homes are supported in decision-making, encouraged to explore their imaginations, and assisted with essential daily living tasks as they learn and grow independently. Staff and residents often develop friendships that last years and people living together learn how to co-exist while sharing living space that provides opportunities and learning each day 🚸🛅🏧✈️🌈☕️🙌🫂

The Hub, located in our downtown office location provides the perfect space for cookie decorating and hot cocoa bar set up ☕️🍪

At Balsam, we love to create, socialize, and eat! In addition to baking and eating, all supported people learn useful and tangible life skills, prepare for community living, and learn new things about all individuals who share a wonderful community with us. At Balsam, all are welcome and celebrated 🥳

Choppy, the Balsam community pup, shown here with his owner, Alesia, enjoys visiting the various living spaces at Balsam and the beautiful humans who occupy them. Yesterday, Choppy and Alesia visited the ARC in Dayspring, spreading holiday cheer and making others smile 🐕
