You might actually have to make time to think....Its not a waste of time to take a beat to think and experience. If you don't take a deliberate time to stop how can you evaluate if the things you are rushing towards are worth it?

What could this look like?

What about a monthly check in with yourself?
Taking an hour and asking yourself a couple of questions.

Was my busyness level too much this month?
Was I busy working towards my most important values?
Did I include myself on my to do list? If I need to be on it more, what is the smallest step I could take to get on my own radar?

The biggest ‘life hack’ could be not to ‘life hack’

The sheer amount of life hacks available is overwhelming. A hack is supposed to be an uncommon solution to a problem resulting in life getting easier. BUT…hear me out…what if there are downsides to lifehacking all the things???

•What if in the time it takes to find the ‘perfect’ lifehack you could have completed the task that you hoped to hack??

•What if there could be joy in not having it all optimized? If taking the least direct route to the grocery store also takes you by your favourite coffee shop and the bright flowers you like to check on maybe its worth it to take the extra time and smell the roses or savour the coffee.

And most importantly,

•Some things are just not hackable. Sometimes life throws us curveballs, things that are beyond our control – illness, trauma exposure – and in that case though our brains want to find the best solution, there isn’t one. The solution in this case is to let ourselves take the less than optimal journey through the challenge, finding compassion for ourselves, seeking out our supports, and gently leaning in to bear witness to these hard things.

It can be so easy to de-prioritize ourselves...but what if we kept ourselves on our own radars.

Uncomfortable...maybe yes...but we can start with small steps. Sometimes giving ourselves physical care is the easy first step, other times it's allowing ourselves to reach out to a friend, more emotionalky based care. What's your easy first step towards yourself?

Me leading the Burnout Recovery Workshop for women with .emilysibbald.

It was our first run and we were nervous and excited. So far feedback has been excellent and I found myself wanting to take it all and rush forward to find more opportunities to do the workshop and to incorporate new ideas.

Then I was reminded by that I might want to celebrate my wins. Which I often forget to do. So pausing to do just that...and a bonus canoeing pic because it was my first time doing a mindful canoe trip.
