Mindfulness For Health

Mindfulness For Health Mindfulness for Health offers in-person therapy in Burlington and virtual sessions across Ontario. With practice, the benefits deepen exponentially.

We help adults navigate anxiety, trauma, and life transitions. We also offer Therapy Intensives for deeper healing & reconnection with your authentic Self. We provide mindfulness-based counseling, psychotherapy and training to help you to be more present in your life and / or move forward with your life in a positive way. Mindfulness practice puts you in touch with your mind and body to restore a sense of balance, improve your sense of well-being and enrich your enjoyment of life. We run Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) groups for individuals who are experiencing stress, anxiety and/or low mood and have been running these groups for approximately 11 years. MBCT has been shown to reduce risk of depressive relapse by 50% and has been shown to be as effective as anti-depressant medication to alleviate depressive symptoms. Mindfulness is a way of being in our lives as they are right now, with non-judgmental, open-hearted acceptance. It is a practice that anyone can learn quickly (even you!) and immediately use to benefit your mental, physical, and emotional health. Many of us are so busy that even the thought of adding one more thing is just too much, no matter how beneficial it might be; but the good news is that a mindfulness practice can be cultivated in many different ways.

January 1 doesn’t need a reinvention.
It doesn’t need goals, promises, or a better version of you.

It can simply be a pause.
A breath.
A moment to arrive in your body.

This year doesn’t require force.
Gentle awareness is enough.💛

So… how did meditation go yesterday?

If your answer is:
• “I forgot”
• “I tried and my mind wouldn’t shut up”
• “I lasted 30 seconds”
• “I felt worse, not better”

Good. That’s not failure.
That’s information.

Mindfulness doesn’t work because you felt calm.
It works because you noticed what was there.

The day after is where the real practice lives.
When there’s no special day.
No fresh motivation.
Just a regular, full, human nervous system.

At Mindfulness for Health, we don’t measure success by how peaceful you feel —>
we measure it by awareness, honesty, and willingness to come back.🥰🧘🏽‍♂️

Today counts too.
Even if it’s just one breath in the middle of a busy day. 🧘🏽‍♀️ Save this for the. days you feel “bad” at mindfulness.

December 21st is World Meditation Day.

Which feels fitting… because this time of year is not exactly calm-and-serene energy.
It’s more end-of-year tired, brain full, heart a little tender.

If you’re brand new to mindfulness, or if meditation is something you used to do before life got busy (and then louder, and then faster)… consider this your gentle nudge.

Not to become “zen.”
Not to sit cross-legged for 45 minutes.
Not to do it perfectly.

Just to pause.
To notice a breath.
To come back into your body for a moment.

Mindfulness isn’t about adding another thing to your to-do list.
It’s about creating tiny pockets of space inside a full life.

Today can be simple.
One minute counts.
Showing up imperfectly counts.

At Mindfulness for Health, we believe mindfulness is for real people with real lives.
If that’s you, you’re already doing it right.

Happy World Meditation Day 💛
Not feeling calm? Good. Meditation still works.

Hey, do you ever feel completely drained, like your brain just won’t switch off? 😴 Me too (and most of my clients say the same).

I’ve been re-reading “Deeper Mindfulness” and this part really resonated: we exhaust ourselves because we’re stuck in “driven mode.”

That’s the busy, doing mode where we’re constantly problem-solving, planning, reacting, and running on autopilot. It’s like our mind puts a foggy filter over everything.🫩

Sound familiar? Here are the 7 sneaky signs you might be stuck there:

• Distracted: Your attention jumps everywhere: thoughts, notifications, random memories.
• Judgmental: You’re hard on yourself (and maybe others too).
• Emotional: Feelings hit out of nowhere and suddenly you’re on the edge of a meltdown.
• Off balance: The negatives feel huge, and even the good stuff slips away.
• Reactive: Your brain’s always planning the next move, burning energy on “what ifs.”
• Avoidant: You push tough feelings away because they feel too much.
• Joyless: Even happy moments feel muted, and life starts feeling flat.

The good news? These aren’t flaws. They’re just entry points. We can gently shift into “Being mode”: noticing thoughts and feelings as they arise, without getting swept away. It’s simple (not always easy), but it brings real freedom and energy back.

At Mindfulness for Health, I help people make this shift every day with practical, compassionate tools. No fluff, just what actually works.🧠
