Every great story has a beginning, a middle, and an end. 7 years ago, we started the beginning of a great story. As professionals with small children we decided that together, we could build and run a private practice. We called this story SpeechHouse. We have had an incredible 7 years together, doing the work that we love and supporting families in our community. As with every great story, there is an ending and we are happy to share our happy ending. We have decided to rebrand SpeechHouse and create our own individual private practices. Vanessa will be doing her amazing SLP work at her own private practice called Regal Speech. Julie will be doing her amazing SLP work at her own private practice called Spark Speech. We cannot wait to continue to grow and support our clients in our new business ventures. Visit Vanessa at www. regalspeech.com and Julie at www.sparkspeech.ca!

Thank you for all your incredible support for SpeechHouse. We are truly grateful for all of you!

What if a game of peek-a-boo, could change the world? Molly has an important message for us. Our kids need us - not what we do. They need us. Our smile, our eye contact, our excited face when they walk into the room.

"What if I was to tell you that a game of peek-a-boo could change the world?" asks seven-year-old Molly Wright, one of the youngest-ever TED speakers. Breaking down the research-backed ways parents and caregivers can support children's healthy brain development, Wright highlights the benefits of pla...

Coloured ice cubes made for a little more excitement in virtual therapy today. We made a quick batch of green, red, blue, and yellow ice cubes yesterday. Today, we combined 2 ice cubes in a small ziploc bag. We watched as the colours transformed before our eyes while the ice melted! We got to predict what colour we might create, talk about descriptive words to describe the ice and the colours. Brainstorm things that might be red, yellow, or orange. And think outside the box about how to make the ice melt faster!

This is how we feel about what we do. Today is National Speech Pathologist Day and we can’t let the day go by without a shout out to all our colleagues who share the magic of this job with us. May is also Speech and Hearing Month. The world has changed so much this year that we decided sharing fancy creative activities for speech and hearing month just didn’t feel right. But we do want to share that the best thing you can do for your child’s speech and language development during challenging times is to be excited!! Listen to something they want to tell you and make your face look like someone told you you could go eat at your favourite restaurant!! Excitement is hard to find right now but we can be excited for the little people in our lives and show them we are listening.

A creek and the S.S. Portobello from the recycling was all that was needed today for some joy. A reminder to keep it simple, conserve mental and physical energy on days when you are tired, and they won’t know the difference! ?!

Spring Break Bingo continues! Today we took the morning off to do some Spring Break cleaning. In the afternoon we explored a super cool conservation area in Stoney Creek called Eramosa Karst. Each hiker got a card with 2 letters on it. The first person to find two things in nature that start with the letters wins! This hike was cool enough without the challenge but it might work for a walk around the block! Choose a street, write it out 2-3 letters per card and off you go!

Grow where you are planted they say. We are not sure if we want to grow here, we said. But we tried, one day at a time. And 1 year later we are celebrating with all our amazing clients and families who embraced a new world of virtual therapy with us. We are so proud of how we have all grown together to keep therapy fun and engaging. We are so grateful to continue to share our love and passion for helping children reach their greatest potential.
