Myth 1: You don’t need sunscreen in the winter.
UV rays don’t take a break just because it’s cold. UVA rays are responsible for aging, pigmentation, and long-term damage. You have to stay consistent year-round. Snow can even reflect up to 80% of UV light, meaning winter exposure can be higher than you think.
Myth 2: Heavy creams are the only way to hydrate winter skin.
Thicker doesn’t always mean better. Effective winter hydration comes from layering: humectants to attract moisture, serums to replenish it, and barrier-supporting moisturizers to lock it in. Relying solely on heavy cream can leave your skin feeling coated but still dehydrated underneath.
Myth 3: Hot showers help dry winter skin feel better.
While they feel soothing in the moment, hot water strips natural oils and disrupts your barrier, the very thing protecting your skin from winter sensitivity. Lukewarm water helps maintain moisture levels and prevents tightness, flaking, and irritation.
Healthy winter skin isn’t about doing more… it’s about doing what actually works.
