CUPS Calgary

CUPS Calgary Through integrated programs and services, CUPS, supports Calgarians facing poverty, adversity, and trauma to create lasting change and stability.

CUPS provides integrated support in the areas of Healthcare, Basic Needs & Housing, and Family & Child services to low-income Calgarians living with the adversity of poverty and traumatic events. While our work is rooted in the science of brain development, our passion is helping people effectively address their challenges, build stability and ultimately improve overall wellbeing.

For this month's CUPian Spotlight, meet Kathryn! One of CUPS' Housing Coordinators!

My role as a Housing Coordinator with the Graduated Rent Subsidy program allows me to work with folks on strength-based graduation goals.

I work with clients on identifying goals and connecting them to community resources to eventually graduate from the program.

I assess housing stability and provide supports when needed to assure consistent tenancy for the clients.

For clients who have identified the need for more supports, I work with them on care planning and advocating for such additional supports.

I love what I do here because I am able to walk alongside different people who have walked very different lives. Making a difference within my community and seeing people achieve long term stability in their life is meaningful work.

Some fun facts about me are that I love to read (I've read 9 books so far this year!), I can play the flute, and I love to go camping!

Thank you Kathryn for all the amazing work you do!

Today, we’re sharing a client testimonial from a participant in CUPS’ Graduated Rent Subsidy Housing Program.

Today is World Cancer Day.

We spoke with Liz, a member of our Community Allied Mobile Palliative Partnership (CAMPP) team to discuss the unique impacts of a cancer diagnosis for someone experiencing homelessness, and the supports that the CAMPP team can provide.

CAMPP, in collaborative with Alberta Health Services, provides palliative and end-of-life care for individuals who have life-limiting illnesses and are experiencing homelessness.

The team provides case management and support with healthcare system navigation, pain management, mental health and addictions, and housing assistance.
