CUPS Calgary

CUPS Calgary Through integrated programs and services, CUPS, supports Calgarians facing poverty, adversity, and trauma to create lasting change and stability.

CUPS provides integrated support in the areas of Healthcare, Basic Needs & Housing, and Family & Child services to low-income Calgarians living with the adversity of poverty and traumatic events. While our work is rooted in the science of brain development, our passion is helping people effectively address their challenges, build stability and ultimately improve overall wellbeing.

We’re starting a new monthly series called “High Five Fridays”, where we asked CUPians to shout out a colleague who has truly gone the extra mile this past month.

Ending the week with high fives all around!

We spoke to just a few of the amazing admin staff here at CUPS to learn more about their roles and the impact they have.

Thank you to all of the administrative staff at CUPS for your dedication, attention to detail, and incredible support. Your behind-the-scenes efforts make a lasting impact!

For this month's CUPian Spotlight, meet Melanie, CUPS' Team Lead of Clinical Services!

"Hi! My name is Mel. I'm a registered nurse and the team lead of clinical services at CUPS. I support the day-to-day operations of our nursing and allied health team—helping ensure they have the tools, supplies, and guidance they need to provide safe, compassionate, and effective care.

My role also focuses on strengthening and refining our new team-based care initiative, while creating a supportive, respectful environment where team members feel safe to ask questions, grow, and do their best work.

What I love most about what I do is the connection behind it. Having once been supported by a community very similar to CUPS, this work feels deeply personal. It’s a privilege to now support a team that shows up every day for people in meaningful ways, and to be part of care that truly makes a difference.

Outside of work, you’ll find me camping with my husband and daughter, spending time with my fur babies, or catching a hockey or baseball game."

Thank you Melanie for all of the important work you do!

Happy National Volunteer Week!

The work we do at CUPS is only possible because of the incredible community behind it. We’re grateful for every volunteer who supports our work - from our dedicated event volunteers, to our Client Advisory Committee and Board of Directors, to Steve who comes each week with a coffee and treat cart for clients, and the many corporate teams who roll up their sleeves to support our wreath campaign, Kits for a Cause, and so much more.

Thank you for giving your time, energy, and care to help us create change, together.
