CUPS Calgary

CUPS Calgary Through integrated programs and services, CUPS, supports Calgarians facing poverty, adversity, and trauma to create lasting change and stability.

CUPS provides integrated support in the areas of Healthcare, Basic Needs & Housing, and Family & Child services to low-income Calgarians living with the adversity of poverty and traumatic events. While our work is rooted in the science of brain development, our passion is helping people effectively address their challenges, build stability and ultimately improve overall wellbeing.

It’s Employee Appreciation Week!

We asked some of our leaders what they appreciate most about their teams, and one thing is clear: we are incredibly lucky at CUPS to have such an amazing group of people.

Across many different roles, our staff work together to help navigate complexities and create change.

It’s their commitment that makes CUPS not only a special place to work, but a place where meaningful impact happens every day!

Our first annual Coldest Night of the Year walk this past Saturday was a huge success!

We joined more than 200 walks happening across the country — a powerful reminder to vulnerable members of our community that they are not alone. We are here, walking alongside them.

A heartfelt thank you to our team captains, walkers, donors, sponsors, volunteers, and staff.

Together we raised nearly $43,000 for CUPS’ Community Health Centre - over double our initial goal! We couldn’t have done this without your incredible support.

We’re so grateful to everyone who showed up on a cold evening to make a real difference and we can’t wait for next year!

Today, on Pink Shirt Day, we stand together to promote kindness, inclusion, and respect for all.

This day is a reminder that bullying has no place in schools, workplaces, or our communities.

Many of our CUPS staff proudly wore their pink shirts today to show their commitment to fostering safe, supportive spaces where everyone feels valued and respected.

For this month's CUPian Spotlight, meet Kathryn! One of CUPS' Housing Coordinators!

My role as a Housing Coordinator with the Graduated Rent Subsidy program allows me to work with folks on strength-based graduation goals.

I work with clients on identifying goals and connecting them to community resources to eventually graduate from the program.

I assess housing stability and provide supports when needed to assure consistent tenancy for the clients.

For clients who have identified the need for more supports, I work with them on care planning and advocating for such additional supports.

I love what I do here because I am able to walk alongside different people who have walked very different lives. Making a difference within my community and seeing people achieve long term stability in their life is meaningful work.

Some fun facts about me are that I love to read (I've read 9 books so far this year!), I can play the flute, and I love to go camping!

Thank you Kathryn for all the amazing work you do!

It’s cold out there, and the risk of frostbite is high, especially for vulnerable members of our community.

In today’s reel, one of our registered nurses shares what you need to know about frostbite: how to prevent it, how to treat it, and a common myth.
