The world is hushed in velvet white,
A million flakes fell through the night.
It piled up deep, a fluffy heap,
While all the town was fast asleep.
It blankets trees in silver lace,
And gives the yard a brand new face.
I pull my winter gear on tight,
To march out in the early light.
Crunch, crunch, my boots begin to make,
A trail across the sparkling flake.
Through powdery drifts that reach my knee,
I explore the snowy scenery.
With mittens on, I take a stand,
And shovel snow with eager hand.
We stack the snow, so thick and tall,
To build a sturdy, secret wall.
A, snow-fort base, a cozy dome,
My winter-wonder, outdoor home.
From window-ledge to garden gate,
It’s the perfect day to navigate.
We hide behind our barricade,
And watch the tracks of trails we made.
A world of white, a winter toy,
Full of fluffy, cold-day joy. ❄️ ☃️ ❄️

The White Birch Watchers
Eyes of the forest, silent and white,
Birch wood sisters in the soft twilight.
Watching the path where the shadows creep,
Guiding the traveler, waking from sleep.
Whispering secrets in the rustling leaves,
Tales of the winter that the cold wind weaves.
Listening closely to the hum of the ground,
Holding the stories where silence is found.
With silver skin and branches slender,
Guardian spirits, gentle and tender.

Where quiet city shadows sleep.
With heavy boots and tiny shoes,
We make the muddy, rainy news.
Splash go the big ones, splash go the small,
Leaving our signatures on the wall—
Of cold grey cement, a temporary trace,
Of the happy, wet, and walking race.
Side by side, the prints will stay,
Until the sun chases rain away.

We paint a rainbow, free from care.

A ceramic white, a quiet stage,
For harvest reds and garden sage.
The emerald spinach, vibrant, keen,
A brighter shade than I have seen.
Beside the yellow, sunny corn,
Where morning appetite is born.
With purple cabbage shredded fine,
And orange carrots, sleek and line.
A dash of paprika, a crimson speck,
Upon the cream-white ceramic neck.
It is a painter’s busy, joyful scene,
Where flavors bloom and colors sheen.
A rainbow spread, a vibrant feast,
From western harvest to the east.
Each tender bite, a fresh delight,
A perfect, colorful, vibrant sight.
A humble plate, yet rich and bold,
A story of the earth is told.
