International Day for People Impacted by Su***de Loss (IDPISL) is Saturday, November 22, 2025. On this day people with lived and living experiences of su***de loss will come together to foster community, to remember loved ones, and to share stories of loss, healing and hope.

To recognize this year’s day, the Canadian Association for Su***de Prevention (CASP) will host a free online event entitled, “Supporting young hearts: A fireside chat on grief after su***de” on Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 12:00-1:30 PM ET live via Zoom.

Children and youth grieve differently than adults grieve and when the loss is to su***de, the path forward can feel even more uncertain. So, how do we support children and youth after losing someone to su***de?

Please join us for this fireside chat, as we hear Kirsten White and Jenna Wray, along with host Jocelyne Ludgate, discuss how young people experience grief, what they need from the adults around them, and how to respond with compassion and care. Through this conversation, we’ll unpack common questions and challenges and leave with insights to support young people through su***de loss.

Coordinated by CASP’s Lived Experience Working Group, the event will include a moment of silence and time for reflection as we gather to observe this special day.

Please note: This event is offered in English and registration is required. The presentation portion of this event may be recorded; however, we cannot guarantee that a recording will be approved and distributed after the event.

🌿 Palliative Care: More Than End-of-Life Support 🌿

Did you know? Palliative care isn’t just for people at the end of life. It’s specialized medical care that focuses on relief from pain, symptoms, and stress—at any stage of a serious illness.

Whether someone is undergoing treatment for cancer, managing heart failure, or living with a chronic condition, palliative care helps improve quality of life for both the patient and their family.

💡 MYTH: Palliative care = hospice or terminal diagnosis.
✅ TRUTH: It can be provided alongside treatment, from the time of diagnosis onward.

Ask for palliative care early—it’s about comfort, dignity, and support when it matters most. 💛

https://www.albertahealthservices.ca/info/page14778.aspx

And of course we offer palliative care support in the form of counselling during the end of life but also through chronic illnesses for the entire family at any age or stage.
