Hi everyone,
-BLS courses will be split into two parts facilitated by the Heart and Stroke of Canada web portal.
-Prior to coming to renewal classes you will complete the theory portion online via the “BLS Blended 60” course. This course is designed to respect your experience and move quickly through the information. Once you sign up for a class I will provide you with a “key” to enter the online course. This is student-led but should take about an hour.
-On the day of your skills test you will come to our home to complete the skills tests. This should take about a half hour.
As everyone has a different level of comfort with close interactions during this time I want to be as clear as possible about what the courses will look like so that you will feel comfortable once you’re at the course. If you feel that additional steps could be taken to feel protected I would love to hear it.
-I will have a window during the day of the skills tests where people will be free to drop in at whatever time is convenient to them and we will complete the skills sessions solo. If you know of another student that is comfortable coming to do the skills with you as a pair that would be welcome.
-I have secured 3-ply disposable masks to be worn by all participants and instructors. These are not medically-rated masks like the procedure masks you would find at work but are the same style. All participants will be required to wear a mask at all times while in our home. If you would prefer to bring your own mask that would be great too.
-I have cleaning solution to clean all equipment between participant’s skills tests
-Hand sanitizer will be provided
-Weather permitting, we will have windows open in our home to provide increased air circulation
I hope that these steps will help you feel safe and ready to return to a BLS course!
Please see the events on this page for any future courses. If none of these times work for you please let me know and we can work on figuring out a time that works for you.
If you encounter any problems with the portal or online portion of the course please contact the Heart and Stroke through their website.
Thanks and we hope to see you soon!
Ryan
