It is hard to believe that in just over a month we will be saying goodbye to 2022. The last month of the year always seems to be the busiest. Sometimes we get lost in the seasons and we forget taking care of ourselves.

So this holiday season remember to:
✔️ Unclench your jaw,
✔️ Relax your shoulders
✔️ Take a nice deep breath
✔️ Book yourself a massage 💆

I still have some available in December so make sure you book in soon.

Summer is going by so fast 😎

I can not believe we are already halfway through August 😢

If you are like me, you are trying to do as much as possible to make the most of this short beautiful season we call summer in Canada.

Whether you are spending your summer hiking, biking or floating down the Bow, make sure you are not forgetting about your own health and wellness this summer.

Did you know that massage is a great way to:

🚴🏼 Reduce pain and muscle soreness you might get from all the fun summer activities like swimming, hiking and biking.

🚙 Relive back pain from sitting for too long during all the fun road trips

😴Improve sleep so you can feel refreshed and recharged in the morning, and ready to make the most of these long summer days

Between all the fun of the season don’t forget to take some time to get a massage.

Self care is not just reactive, it is preventative.

First fitness goal of 2022 completed ✔️

The last two years have been a lot and when I get overwhelmed the first thing I do to make myself feel better is grab a sweet treat and binge watch a tv show. Needless to say after two years of this pandemic I have been indulging in a lot of unhealthy comfort food and not a lot of activity.

In January, I decided to start making some small changes to improve my health and well-being.

First goal was to get moving again. I challenged myself to 20 minute of activity a day. To keep myself motivated, I signed up for three virtual challenges with and today I got my first medal in the mail for completing the 66km Flower Route 🌷

After two months, I look forward to my 20 minutes of activity everyday and I can’t wait to get my next medal in the mail.

This months goal is to cut down on the sugar. First week has been tough (I am on the fifth day of a headache) but as Dory always says….”just keep swimming” 🐠

I hope you all are taking care of yourself and remember one of the best ways to practice self care is to get a massage 💆

Self care is not just reactive, it is preventative.

Back to reality!

The first week back after a holiday is always a tough one but I definitely enjoyed having the last couple weeks off to recharge and spend time with my family.

My family and I are trying to get back into a routine this week that doesn’t involve:

😴 Sleeping in
😌 All day PJs
🍪 Cookies for every meal
🛍 Excessive online shopping
🎥 Encanto on repeat.

Wish me luck 🙃

Whether you started back last week or you are like me and starting back today remember no matter how bad or hard the week is, it is nothing that a massage can’t fix 💆

It’s my favorite time of year again…..

🍁FALL🍁

I think fall is the most beautiful season. The colors are so vibrant and stunning. (Just look at this picture of me at Wedge Pond in Kananaskis this weekend 😍)

Fall comes with pumpkin spice, cooler weather and Halloween 🎃

The arrival of fall also reminds me:

1. Let things go that no longer serve me. All around us trees are starting to shed their leaves. This great reminder of how healthy it can be to let things go that we don’t need anymore. It makes us lighter and allows for new growth to start within us. What are you going to let go of this fall?

2. Everything is impermanent. These past couple years have challenged us like we never thought was possible. Fall reminds me that it won’t be like this forever, which is a welcomed reminder.

I hope you all are taking advantage of the beauty of this season while it is here (like I did this weekend 😎)

Be kind to yourself and remember self care is not just reactive it is preventative, so go book yourself a massage 💆💆‍♂️

When a Client comes in for a massage the first thing I ask them is why they came in that day. Usually people will start with telling me things like their neck or back is sore and will usually finish with saying ….and I need to relax.

Massage is an excellent way to help people relax as well as help with overall physical and physiological health.

Stress is more prevalent now then ever before. The pandemic has increased the stress is everyone’s lives. Stress can cause muscle tension, headaches and sleeping problem. Massage helps to reduce stress by lowering your heart rate, relaxing your muscles and releasing endorphins. Massage promotes relaxation which can help lower your heart rate. Studies have shown taking even a few moments to relax can help a person better manage stress.

More and more Canadians are struggling with anxiety then ever before. Massage is a great tool to help manage the symptoms of anxiety. Massage therapy has been shown to elevate the neurotransmitter associated with lowering anxiety and it can decrease the hormones associated with increasing anxiety.

For many who struggling with depression the first step they may seek out is psychotherapy which is an excellent place to start. More studies are coming out saying that combining psychotherapy and massage therapy can be affective in alleviating symptoms associated depression and Seasonal Affective Disorder. Massage can improve mood and reduce depression in people living with chronic pain as well as pregnant women and cancer patients. Massage is also shown to help reset circadian rhythms which can improve moods and increase energy in people who struggled with Seasonal Affective Disorder.

Massage is not the answer or the cure for any mental health struggles someone may have but it is an excellent tool to help manage symptoms. If you are struggling with mental health reach out to your family doctor first and remember to be kind to yourself.

Self care is not just reactive it is preventative.

Massage is great tool to help promote relaxation and reduce stress but there are so many more benefits that lots of people don’t know about. Over the next couple weeks I am going to taking about the wonderful benefits of massage and the many conditions that massage therapist can help with.

This week we are going to start with talking about Headache and Migraines.

Some days, does it feel like feel like there is a vice around your head? Maybe after a long day of working at the computer or running your kids all over town for activities. Chances are you have a tension headache. Did you know that massage is a great way to treat and prevent future tension headaches? Massage can helps release the muscle tension in the head, neck and shoulders which helps decreases the pain associated with headaches.

Raise your hand if you are a fellow migraine warrior 🙋. Migraines are painful, exhausting, nauseating, life stopping, fun sucking mega headache. Usually present in just one side of your head and can be triggered by thing like weather changes and certain foods. These type of headaches can a last couple hours to a couple days. Massage can to help with the pain and tension that comes with migraines. Studies have show that getting a massage 1 to 2 times a month and decrease the pain, duration and frequency of migraines.

So next time you start to feeling that vice like grip around your head or have been have pretty consistent migraines, give you friendly massage therapist a call ☎️
