Hives are red, itchy, slightly raised bumps on the skin that are often accompanied by intense itching. They have defined edges and may have a pale centre and come and go in groups that may disappear and reappear elsewhere on the body before they go away completely.

Tips to help reduce the frequency and intensity of acne flare-ups: πŸ”Ή Wash your face twice daily with a mild cleanser (e.g., Cetaphil). Avoid cleansing towelettes that contain alcohol or acetone. πŸ”Ή Wash skin with warm water instead of hot water and avoid overwashing. πŸ”Ή Rinse skin thoroughly after washing. πŸ”Ή Avoid exfoliants and rough towels. πŸ”Ή Do not pick or squeeze pimples. πŸ”Ή Avoid excessive use of makeup. πŸ”Ή Avoid using irritating products that contain parabens or fragrance. πŸ”Ή Avoid friction (e.g., wearing a sports helmet, musical instrument, etc.). πŸ”Ή Opt for beauty products that are oil-free, non-comedogenic, and non-acnegenic. πŸ”Ή Always use sunscreen that does not clog pores. If the medication used to treat acne contains benzoyl peroxide, apply the sunscreen during the day and the medication at bedtime.
