As a former Girl Guide leader, I have seen this first hand. All the comments about sugar being “evil” or people not being “allowed” to eat these foods. These young girls are hearing these messages and learning to fear food and not trust their bodies. Please think twice about what you say to the younger generations, but also what you are telling yourself. No one food has the power to make or break your weight or your health. If you fear these foods, or feel like they have control over you, it might be time to have a look at your relationship with food.

The holiday season can bring up some big feelings about our bodies. Instead of reverting to the usual resolutions, maybe this could be the year to try a new approach that might actually improve our health and our relationship with our body.

Do you struggle with emotional eating? Or maybe you find yourself eating but you have no idea why? Food can help us deal with a whole variety of things such as hunger, anxiety, loneliness, boredom, punishment or reward. It's not bad to eat for emotional reasons, unless that's your only coping mechanism. It can become our go-to behavior when times are tough and eventually can cause us problems. If you struggle with this and want help working through it, book an appointment with me and I can help you figure it out and come up with new strategies to manage your emotions.

I am happy to announce that I am now accepting new clients for appointments starting in April! I provide services for adults in nutrition for mental health, body image, emotional eating and binge eating disorder.

A little about me: I am a registered dietitian with over 20 years experience ( I still don’t believe I’m that old!). Throughout my career I have worked with a variety of populations, and one thing they have all had in common, aside from the obvious fact that we all need to eat, is that we are complex creatures, with complicated relationships with food and our bodies. And that relationship with food can really suck the joy out of life and keep us from reaching our goals. My goal is to help you heal that relationship with food and your body. No restrictive diets and no shaming here. I practice from a weight inclusive, health at every size, trauma-informed and intuitive eating stand point.

I strive to provide a safe space for all. LGBTQ2S+ welcome.

If you are interested in working with me, please contact me to schedule a free 15 minute discovery call. Dietitian services may be covered by your insurance plan.
