Early in March, our Client Advisory Council was invited on a tour of the Oliver-Bowen C-Train maintenance facility with CTA. Twenty-two members of CASS learned about the facility’s purchase, maintenance, and operation of the city’s trains. We boarded a train and went through a train wash (like an automated car wash, but much bigger!), learned how the steel tires of a C-Train can go flat (yes, even though they’re steel!), and saw the newest model of C-Train that will be on city tracks soon. We also had the chance to try driving a C-Train using a simulator—turns out, stopping quickly is tough if you go too fast!
A big thank you to our wonderful tour hosts from CTA, Brittany and Claire. We’re so grateful for the opportunity to learn more about CTA and Calgary’s train system.
