Shame doesn’t only show up as sadness or self-loathing — it hides in behavior that tries to keep you connected.
Here are 3 Shame Tells (and what they’re secretly protecting):

1️⃣ Withdrawal — pulling away before others can reject you.
→ Shame’s trying to keep you safe from more hurt.

2️⃣ Overcompensating — proving your worth by doing more.
→ Shame hopes extra effort = acceptance.

3️⃣ Irritability — snapping or controlling to avoid feeling small.
→ Shame’s saying: “If I act strong, no one will see my fear.”

🧠 Why it matters:
Shame’s job is protection, not punishment.
It’s your body’s ancient alarm system saying, “Don’t lose connection.”

When one of these shows up, try this:
“Shame, I see you. Thank you for caring about my safety.”
“We can belong without shrinking.”

🌿 Save this as your reminder that even your defenses were once forms of love.

Do you ever catch that quiet voice inside whispering:
“You’re not enough.”
“You’re not doing enough.”
“You’re not disciplined enough.”
“You should be further along by now.”
It doesn’t shout — it hums beneath your day.
That voice isn’t trying to ruin you. It’s trying to protect you.

🧠 Here’s what’s actually happening:
Shame is a social survival emotion.
It evolved to help humans stay connected to their group —
to warn, “Careful, you might lose belonging.”
So it says:
Hide.
Fix yourself.
Shrink until it feels safe again.
It’s protective, not personal.

But what kept you safe back then might be suffocating you now.

Try this:
When the “not enough” voice shows up, pause and say:
“Thank you for trying to protect me. I’m safe now.”
You’re not failing for feeling shame —
you’re just hearing an old alarm that’s still learning you’re safe in your own belonging.

What phrase does your inner critic use when it’s trying to “protect” you? Leave it in the comments.
Let’s name it together.

When life feels like too much noise, your body is often the first to notice. ⬇️

Tight shoulders.
Shallow breath.
A mind that won’t stop spinning.

Here’s something that helps:

🎵 Put on one song that feels grounding.
🌿 Let your body move however it wants — or not at all.

There’s no right way to do this.
Just listen and follow what feels true.

One of our favourites is Welcome Home by Joy Williams.
It’s a gentle reminder that slowing down isn’t losing pace, it’s finding your way back to yourself.

This isn’t about exercising or “doing it right.”
It’s about giving your body a voice again —
a few minutes where you stop managing and start noticing.

This supports your nervous system,
Helps your mind soften,
and your heart remember that you belong to yourself, too.

In our Fall Reclaim Your Wholeness group, we end each gathering with a song —
a shared moment of stillness and sound,
where every woman is reminded: you are home in yourself.

✨ Our next group begins February 2026 in Calgary.
If this speaks to you, you’re welcome to join us — link in bio for details.

If slowing down feels uncomfortable, it’s not because you’re doing it wrong … it’s because your body is learning that safety can live in stillness, too.

For so many women, rest feels foreign. We’ve been praised for pushing through, for holding it all, for showing up no matter what. But your nervous system wasn’t designed to sprint forever.

Every pause, every breath, every moment you choose to rest without apology… that’s you practicing self-devotion.

Not a reward for doing enough.
A return to remembering you already are.

✨ This weekend, may you rest without guilt, and come home to yourself — slowly, softly, fully.

Gratitude lives in the body —
in the warmth of your breath, the steadiness of your heartbeat, the quiet ways you keep showing up. 🌿

It isn’t about feeling thankful for everything.
It’s about pausing long enough to notice what’s here —
the breath that steadies you,
the body that carries you,
the small acts of care that make life feel safe again.

In our She Thrives chapter, “Becoming the Love of Your Life,” we wrote:
“You don’t become the love of your life all at once —
you do it one breath, one boundary, one kind word at a time.”

That’s the essence of self-love —
and the heart of embodied gratitude.
Every small act of tenderness is an intentional reverencefor your body, your story, and your becoming. 💛

We’re deeply grateful for this community —
for every woman who’s shown up with honesty, courage, and care.

Your presence reminds us that healing and belonging aren’t solo journeys —
they’re shared spaces of connection and compassion.

We would love to see you at the She Thrives Conference, Oct 17–18 in Calgary.

✨ This two-day experience is designed to reconnect you with your power and purpose —
through stories, tools, and conversations that nurture your health, voice, and worth.
You’ll walk away with clarity, confidence, and connection to what matters most: you.

Some days thriving just looks like trying.
And that’s where the healing begins. 💛

We wrote our She Thrives chapter, Becoming the Love of Your Life, as a reminder that thriving isn’t about doing more — it’s about meeting yourself right where you are.

Healing doesn’t always look like progress.
Sometimes it looks like softening, slowing down, or remembering to breathe before you begin again.

You don’t have to earn your way to thriving.
You are already enough — especially on the days that just feel like trying.

✨ Join us at the She Thrives Conference Oct 17–18 in Calgary for real stories, connection, and reminders that thriving can look beautifully imperfect.

✨We’re officially published authors!✨ This is a dream we’ve held for years, and today, it’s real. We are honored to share that our chapter, Becoming the Love of Your Life, is published in the newly released compilation book She Thrives: Navigating Health, Hormones, and Healing. ⬇️

Almost 7 years ago, our lives looked very different. Kyla’s husband passed away suddenly. Natalie was leaving both a long-term relationship and a 20+ year career. At the same time, we were both raising our children—navigating motherhood in the midst of heartbreak, transition, and uncertainty. We weren’t just rebuilding our own lives; we were also holding space for our children’s healing.

We chose to live together, to hold one another through this season, and to begin what has become our Brave Humanity journey.

That time was tender and raw. Our grief cracked us open and invited us to ask deeper questions: about love, about conditioning, about how we related to our own bodies, and even how our conditioning shaped us as mothers. For the first time, we began to see that our bodies were not something to fix, but sacred sources of wisdom that had carried and protected us through it all.

With curiosity and compassion (instead of criticism), we learned to listen to our bodies, feel where emotions lived inside us, and cultivate practices of self-love and trust. From that place, we began to dream again—about the lives we desired, the way we wanted to parent, the legacy we wanted to leave for our children, and how we could serve humanity.

One by one, those dreams have come true. Becoming published authors was the final dream on that original list.

And now, here we are—so grateful, so humbled, so proud to share our story of becoming the love of our own lives.

And the beautiful thing? Now that those dreams are complete, we’re already dreaming new ones—with even more courage, confidence, and trust in the creative process of becoming.

💜 Thank you for witnessing us on this journey. We can’t wait to share more about She Thrives—including how to get your copy and details on the book launch and conference later this week. Stay tuned!

Hello again, Brave Humans 🌿

We pressed pause here this summer so we could reconnect with our people—and we’re grateful for the moments that unfolded. ✨

For Kyla, that meant a first big adventure overseas with her boys and celebrating her parents’ golden anniversary. 💛

For Natalie, it was family weddings, cottage days, a weekend in Waterton, and a summer shaped by both healing and the gift of new security. 🌸

As we return this fall, we carry with us the joy, rest, and connection of these past months. And we can’t wait to step into a new season with you.

🍂 Our circles, retreats, and gatherings are waiting for you—link in bio to explore what’s ahead.

✨ And… we have an exciting professional milestone coming up that we can’t wait to share with you soon!
