To be totally honest, I used to feel threatened when I saw another business offering the same type of sessions as I was—when I thought my work was completely unique. I remember the very first time this happened, soon after starting my private practice nearly ten years ago now, my sister said to me:
“You don’t need to be the only one, Jen. You need to be the first or the best—and you’re both.”
It was a nice little ego boost—and I sure loved receiving that validating feedback from my big sister, who I looked up to so much! So, I worked really, really hard to be the best, that’s for sure.
Looking back now, I no longer agree with that approach. I don’t think I need to be “the best,” but I do need to be in alignment with my authentic self, and I need to be working within my integrity. When I offer my work from this space of authenticity, I trust that the clients who are meant for me will find their way to me—and the others will find their way to the practitioners who are right for them. Who or what is “best” is all relative.
There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to healing or self-growth. The most powerful thing we can do is learn to listen to our own inner knowing, to honour our intuition, and to let it guide us toward the right path for our specific needs, challenges, and goals.
One thing that keeps surfacing for me is this: when we drop competition and stop putting each other down, we begin to rise ourselves. There’s a deep freedom in releasing that old paradigm, and it opens space for something much more expansive.
I’ve been noticing how much trust plays a role in this process—trusting that the right people will find their way to us. Trusting that our unique gifts and offerings will resonate with those who need them most.

Let’s lift eachother up to rise together…
