After the pressure of the holidays, a lot of us can feel down or stressed. But struggling doesn't mean you’re weak—it means you’re human. To help you start the new year off strong, we've put together some simple tips for protecting your well-being!
Check them out👇
1. Move your body in ways that are fun: Whether it’s a home workout, joining a rec league, or playing a sport, moving your body in a way that doesn’t feel like a chore will make it easier for you to stick to. The more regular movement your body gets, the better your mood will be!
2. Fuel your body: Skipping meals impacts your mood more than you think. Try prioritizing regular, nutritious meals to boost your energy and keep you performing at your best.
3. Reach out to a friend instead of handling everything solo: If talking about mental health feels uncomfortable for you, start small. Pick one friend who you’re close with and talk about something that’s on your mind. You’ll probably be surprised to hear they’ve gone through something similar.
4. Explore support groups with other men who “get it:" Support groups are a great way to connect with other men who understand what you’re facing. Depending on your comfort level, you can look at in-person meet ups or online options.
5. Focus on small wins, not big resolutions: Instead of focusing on New Year’s resolutions with big goals, set small, achievable goals–even if it’s just one. This helps set you up for success and keeps you motivated to keep going.
6. Take breaks from “doomscrolling:" Try being more intentional with your screen time. Putting your phone down, especially an hour before bed, helps clear your mind and improves your quality of sleep.
