I’m excited to share this! 💙🎧

I was recently a guest on the DanSun Podcast, where I talked about how ear acupuncture can help reduce stress, calm the nervous system, and support trauma recovery for first responders.

This work is so close to my heart. Over the years I’ve seen firefighters, police officers, EMS, and others experience real relief—often after carrying the weight of chronic stress, sleep issues, and traumatic calls for far too long.

In the episode, we chat about:

✨ Why ear acupuncture works so quickly
✨ Stories and results from the EAR Program
✨ How simple, accessible treatments can change the trajectory of healing
✨ Why this matters now more than ever in the first responder community

I would love for you to listen, share, or pass it along to someone who might benefit.

I had the privilege of spending the last two days at the Mental Health for First Responders Western Canadian Conference here in Calgary — and what an energizing experience it was.

From deep conversations with first responders, to meaningful exchanges with mental health professionals and organizations working tirelessly to create change, the atmosphere was filled with dedication, courage and hope. Listening to men and women on the frontlines share their experiences, challenges, and the realities they face every day was a powerful reminder of why this work matters so much.

I was grateful for the opportunity to showcase how ear acupuncture can support stress regulation and trauma recovery, especially in those moments when the nervous system is overwhelmed. Many people were curious, open, and eager to learn how this simple, evidence-informed approach can be integrated into existing mental health supports.

What inspired me most was the collective commitment in the room — a shared determination to find solutions, bridge gaps, and offer real help to those who spend their lives helping others.

I’m leaving the conference feeling hopeful, encouraged, and motivated to continue expanding access to tools like the EAR Program so our first responders can receive the care they truly deserve.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, shared your stories, or simply came with an open mind. 💙

Feeling stuck in stress mode… tension in your nervous system… sleep that just won’t reset?

Think of ear acupuncture like hitting CONTROL‑ALT‑DELETE for your mind and body — it gives your nervous system a chance to reset, calm down, and start fresh.

In this video, I explain:

• What happens in your nervous system when you’re in “fight, flight or freeze” mode

• Why the ear is such a powerful gateway to calming your system — connected via the vagus nerve and brainstem

🍬😣 Too Much Halloween Candy? Your Head Might Be Telling You!

If you’re waking up with a frontal headache, bloated stomach, or sluggish digestion after indulging in Halloween treats, your body might be signaling a digestive imbalance from excess sugar. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), too much sweet or rich food can create dampness and stagnation in the stomach and spleen, leading to headaches, fatigue, and digestive discomfort.

🌿 What You Can Do:

Acupressure on LI 4 (Hegu / “Union Valley”) – Located between the thumb and index finger, this point helps release tension, relieve headaches, and move stagnant energy. Massage vigorously in circular motions for 1–2 minutes on each hand.

Support Digestion: Sip warm water or herbal teas (like peppermint, ginger, or chamomile) to help move digestion along.

Gentle Movement: Light walking or stretching encourages circulation and helps your body process excess sugar.

Mindful Eating Today: Eat lightly, with warming, easy-to-digest foods like soups, congee, or cooked vegetables to restore balance.

✨ By supporting your digestion and stimulating these points, you can help your body clear excess sugar, relieve headaches, and feel more energized.

🍂 TCM Tip: LI 4 is a powerful point for both headaches and digestive support, so even a few minutes of acupressure can make a big difference!

🍂 Autumn Tea Guide: Nourish Your Lungs & Metal Element (TCM) 🍂

Autumn is the season of Metal in Traditional Chinese Medicine, linked to the lungs, large intestine, and emotional balance. Teas that moisten dryness, strengthen immunity, support digestion, and calm the mind are ideal for this season.

Here's a few helpful brews:

🌬️ For Lung & Moisture Support:
1) Pear Blossom Tea - moistens the Lungs
2) Ashwaganda Chai Tea - tonifies the Lungs (caffeine free)

💪 For Immunity & Qi Support:
1) Turmeric Chai Tea - warming and immune boosting
2) Immunity SOS Tea- lots of adaptogenic herbs in this one!
3) Blood Orange Boost - this one has hibiscus (clears heat), green tea and rosemary (opens the airways).

🌸 For Emotional & Grief Support
1) Serenity Now Tea - rosehip, hibiscus and lavender help to soothe and calm our nervous system
2) Tulsi Tranquillity Tea - this one's got rosehips, rose petals, strawberries and tulsi, aka holy basil—a sweet & aromatic herb thought to relieve anxiety and stress.

✔️ For Digestive Support :
1) Le Digestif Tea - peppermint, fennel and ginger help to ease all sorts of digestive complaints from bloating to constipation.
2) Morning Detox Tea - this mellow yet strong cooling & cleansing blend is made with apple cider vinegar powder, turmeric, ginger and moringa, all which help constipation, stomach pains and and diarrhea.
3) The Skinny Tea - David's Tea describes this one as: Traditionally in China, pu’erh and oolong have been used for thousands of years to aid digestion. Try this citrusy, earthy blend made with organic, traditional digestives like ginger and eleuthero root—a unique (but delicious) member of the ginseng family prized for its energizing powers.

💡 TCM Tip:
Rotate teas or blend warming, moistening teas with calming herbal teas to support digestive health, lung health and emotional balance as we move through autumn. Sip mindfully and allow your body to adapt to the seasonal transition.
