First Performance Tour
At the end of our 2023-2024 fiscal year, we visited four towns and cities to perform at four retirement homes over two days, June 8th and 22nd. It was our very first "Performance Tour".
One of our mission statements reads " foster goodwill and community spirit through musical performances to various audiences at community events".
This is quite important to us. We wanted to spread the love of choral music to broader audiences in Alberta. We sang in several languages such as Zulu, Italian, French, English and Korean. We sang about the love, sorrow, nature, well wishes and life. We were emotionally charged to see enthusiastic residents express their appreciation while we sang. Teary eyes, singing along when they recognize the music, applauding, and standing ovation. Music connected us as one for every minute of the entire performance. It was true at all four locations! We were so grateful to be able to experience this newly connected relationship. Cultural Mosaic!
Our performance schedule was rather tight.
On June 8th, we performed in Claresholm and High River. We met at the Lutheran church at 10:30 AM, took a group photo, and left for Claresholm. After 90 minutes of bus ride, we arrived at Cottonwood Village in Claresholm. The recreational director and residents met us at the door. After the performance, we left for Seasons Retirement Center in High River. After two performances and a dinner for the members, we returned to the Lutheran Church by 8 pm. A long but very memorable day!!
On June 22nd, we performed in Canmore and Airdrie. We left the Lutheran Church at 11:30 AM and arrived at Origin at Spring Creek in Canmore. A beautiful facility in Canmore. After the performance, all choir members enjoyed the Policeman's Creek Boardwalk walking to the restaurant for lunch. Since we had the evening performance in Airdrie, we had to have a late lunch or early dinner. After another bus ride, we reached Abrio Place Lodge in Airdrie. It was another gratifying day!
