When you think of Art Therapy, what comes to mind?
Painting, like Bob Ross?
Drawing, and talking about what you made?
Pressure to create something?
What if I told you that you don't have to create something at all? That you can spend the whole session just playing with a ball of clay, destroying donated old electronics, or mixing sand and glue? Swirling paint in a bowl, crumpling paper, and not talking?
When we say, "it's the process, not the product," that's what art therapists are referring to.
There is so much pressure to create, to produce, to be productive in order to be valued in our day to day lives.
There is value in what you don't make too.
There is value in what you don't say.
There is value in just being.
That's what I'm here for.
You are enough.
