As Volunteer Week wraps up, we’re taking a moment to recognize the people who make such a meaningful impact behind the scenes.

At the Prostate Cancer Centre, our volunteers bring something truly special, they’ve walked this path, they understand the journey, and they show up with empathy that can’t be taught. Their ability to connect, reassure, and support others comes from a place of real experience.

They help create an environment where patients and families feel at ease, supported, and understood from the moment they walk in.

We’re incredibly grateful for the time, care, and heart they give to our community every single day. Thank you for all that you do.

Ricky’s Race is beginning with an incredible and inspiring adventure. This spring, Richard (Ricky) Seto and his wife Nora are setting out on a journey of a lifetime, walking over 800 KMs along the Camino de Santiago.

After Ricky’s diagnosis of metastatic prostate cancer in 2023, life changed instantly. Faced with uncertainty, fear, and the unknown, Ricky and Nora chose to move forward with strength, faith, and a commitment to living fully. Along the way, they found support, care, and community through the Prostate Cancer Centre, an experience that deeply shaped their journey.

Now, as they take on this approximately 35-day pilgrimage across France and Spain, every step has purpose. Ricky’s Race – Part 2 is about raising awareness, giving back, and supporting other men and families facing prostate cancer.

Follow along as their journey unfolds throughout the month, and consider making a donation to support their efforts. Every step they take is helping make a difference. 💙

The Prostate Cancer Centre is proud to launch a first-of-its-kind comprehensive Bladder Cancer Treatment pilot program in Calgary, addressing a critical gap in care for patients across Southern Alberta.

With bladder cancer diagnoses rising and limited dedicated support available, this innovative program introduces a new model of care featuring patient navigation, coordinated treatment pathways, and integrated mental health support.

This is a significant step forward in improving access, easing system pressures, and ensuring patients receive the guidance and care they need, when they need it most. Together, we are advancing the future of cancer care in Alberta. 💙

This new program as well as all of our programs are made possible entirely through the generosity of our donors.
