Check out our October OHS Update and Blog Post. This month we are focusing on the importance of ERP Drills.

Don’t wait for an emergency, practice for it. Regular ERP drills help:
• Ensure everyone knows what to do
• Test communication, equipment, and procedures
• Reveal gaps so you can fix them before disaster strikes

Employers, supervisors, and workers all have roles to play. From planning and training, to executing drills and acting on lessons learned. Drill at least annually or when conditions change (new layout, equipment, hazards).

Need help reviewing or setting up your ERP and drills? Reach out...we’ve got you covered!

As we dive into October, we are coming up to Fire Prevention Week - October 5-11, 2025.

This year, the NFPA is focusing on lithium-ion battery safety with the theme:
“Charge into Fire Safety: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home.”

Lithium-ion batteries power our phones, laptops, tools, and even e-bikes! But if misused, they can be a serious fire risk.

Some examples of common incidents linked to lithium-ion batteries include:
Workplace Hazards: Tools, scanners, or portable devices overheating on chargers.
Residential Fires: E-scooters or e-bikes catching fire while charging indoors.
Transportation Risks: Airlines restrict how batteries can be carried because of the potential fire risk.

Stay safe with three simple steps:
Buy Safely → Use certified batteries and devices from reputable sources. Buy certified products with safety marks (CSA, UL, etc.).
Charge Smartly → Only use approved chargers, avoid charging on beds/couches, and unplug once full. Store and charge away from flammable materials. Follow manufacturer’s charging instructions.
Recycle Responsibly → Recycle at approved facilities, never in the trash.

Since 1922, Fire Prevention Week has helped communities prevent fire tragedies. Let’s keep that momentum going by making battery safety part of our daily routine.

Kasa Consulting is pleased to announce that one of our OHS Advisors – Cicely Hung – has recently obtained her Certified Industrial Hygiene certification!

With that certification, we are now able to offer the following services:
- Chemical Assessments: Kasa will be able to conduct the in-person assessment at your location. A third-party laboratory will need to be contracted to run the chemical assessment and return the results. Kasa will provide you with the chemical report, and context for the findings, as they pertain to your facility, operations, and jurisdictional OHS requirements.
- Noise assessments: Kasa is able to now conduct introductory noise level assessments using noise dosimetry. This will help determine your employees’ exposure to noise over time. As a result, you will better be able to determine the level of hearing protection required by your employees, as well as audiometric testing requirements in order to remain compliant with OHS legislation.
- Fit Testing: Kasa will be able to conduct qualitative and quantitative fit tests for your employees who require respiratory protection on site. Qualitative fits tests can be done conveniently at your location!

Reach out to us at Kasa Consulting today to discuss your Industrial Hygiene needs!
