🤩 Congratulations to Ikran Yusuf, this years Ignite Nutrition Dietetics Internship Scholarship winner!
🎓️ Ikran holds a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and a Certificate in Food Security, and is currently completing a Master of Public Health in Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of Toronto, specializing in Global Health. She is committed to advancing nutrition equity through culturally relevant care, health promotion, policy, and research.
🥰 Her academic and professional interests include global health, maternal and child nutrition, health equity, and evidence-based nutrition interventions for underserved populations. Over the past eight years, Ikran has worked extensively in non-profit and community-based settings, engaging individuals, youth, families, and professionals, with a focus on Black, low-income, and other equity-deserving communities. These experiences have strengthened her commitment to addressing systemic barriers to health, including food insecurity and the broader social determinants of health.
💫 Ikran aims to pursue a career as a Public Health Dietitian and researcher, designing and implementing programs that improve access to nutrition care while contributing to research that informs equitable policy. Her long-term goal is to strengthen health outcomes and advance nutrition equity both in Canada and globally.
