Our Gift of Hearing Winner Has Been Chosen 💙

We are honoured to share that this year’s Gift of Hearing recipient is a dedicated healthcare provider in our community.

His story deeply moved us.

He does not have eardrums in either ear, and he also has inner nerve damage. Because of his significant hearing loss, communication has been an ongoing struggle. He shared that he often nods his head when people ask him questions, not because he understands, but simply to finish the conversation.

He told us, “People are always puzzled and confused by my response.”

Many have mistaken his hearing loss for ignoring them. Over time, this has led him to withdraw and isolate himself. It has even affected his ability to secure employment, as he has struggled through job interviews due to communication barriers.

As a healthcare provider, hearing is critical. Being able to clearly understand colleagues and patients, especially during emergencies, is essential to performing his duties at 100%.
