It’s going to be a big week behind the scenes at Aurora getting ready for the year to switch over. Can you believe we’ve caught over 460 babies this year?

We are grateful for every single one of them! Can’t wait to share some photos of our beautiful December babies when they come in!

This is the beautiful conclusion to our parkade birth story from Friday! Our beautiful family made their way upstairs to be checked out by midwives and get to know each other.

Kimberley caught this babe in the car in the parking lot for South Health Campus. And Katherine’s amazing doula captured her in action!

This year has been an outlier for extraordinary birth locations. 3 births in cars by my count, a clinic birth, and an ambulance birth. What a wild ride!

As the days shorten and the nights get longer we always think about our new mamas in the community. It’s tough to navigate the holidays, family, older kids, as well as the cold and dark.

Check in with your mood, let go of expectations if you can, and reach out for help if you need it.

How did your partner support you through labour?
We know from experience how integral your partner can be in supporting you, we are here as witnesses for all of the words of encouragement, the soothing touch, the physical support.
It’s not all waiting rooms and ci**rs for partners anymore!

Birth photos capture a once in a lifetime moment, the creation of a new family, new parents, and the welcome of a new person.
We are so lucky to be able to see these moments in person and to be able to share them through social media as well. It is truly a privilege.
