Atropine Drops for Myopia Control

- Low-dose Atropine drops work to slow down the progression of myopia by relaxing the eyes’ focusing mechanisms.
- Atropine does not correct blurred vision from myopia, so it is to be used in conjunction with glasses or contact lenses
- Studies show it can slow the rate of myopic progression between 30% to 50%.

Contact Lenses for Myopia Control Pt. 2
Soft Contact lenses: CooperVision MiSight 1 Day or Acuvue Abiliti 1-Day Soft Therapeutic Lenses

-Both Misight 1 Day and Abiliti 1 Day contact lenses are daily disposable specialty lenses that correct blurry vision and slows down the progression of myopia.

- MiSight 1 day uses their ActivControlTM Technology which contains two treatment zones and two correction zones. The treatment zone creates myopic defocus with image focus in front of the retina, rather than behind it to slow axial elongation. Then the correction zones correct myopia in all gaze positions.
- In a clinical study over three years, MiSight 1 day reduced the rate of myopia progression by 59% on average, compared to a single vision 1-day lens.

- Abiliti 1-Day Soft Therapeutic Lenses uses their breakthrough RingBoostTM Technology. The light passing through the outer treatment zones is focused in front of the retina but off the line of sight. This allows the lens to be built with stronger treatment power while still maintaining vision quality.
- A clinical trial demonstrated that Abiliti 1 Day reduced axial elongation by 0.105mm, on average in as little as 6 months, when compared to single-vision soft contact lenses.

It's important to routinely get an eye examination not only to ensure that you continue to see things clearly, but also to aid in the early detection of eye diseases or conditions, such as the development of cataracts, macular degeneration, glaucoma, and much more. That is why the Canadian Association of Optometrists suggest that adults aged 19-64 should have an eye exam every two years, while annual exams are recommended for adults aged 65 and older, and children 18 and younger.

This is one of the reasons why we are so happy to have started our referral program. It helps spread the word about the importance of getting regular eye exams, thus kickstarting a proactive approach to protecting and caring for your vision and eye health.
